See we are constantly linked with Archie Collins, asked my Posh ST mate about him.

Rates him as top 5 midfielders in the division, reckons he is lower Championship level (which is where he thinks he should be going) and his game is #6 picking the ball off defence and keeper to start all their play.

Sound familiar... (hopefully not a Wing replacement)

Or is the move we make if we get some money for Savage which would allow Wing to move into more of an 8?

Keep hearing good things about him. Were you surprised he only got a one-year extension?

What we really need is for Olise to move to Real Madrid or PSG and then we would have some money to buy players who look capable of playing in the Championship.

As Kerplunk said under another topic we are getting in League 1 standard as we did with the likes of Lane, O'Connor,Williams and Roberts so presumably , without an Olise windfall, that is where we are at and will have to content ourselves with a mid-table position again especially if Savage and (god forbid)Wing and Pereira were to move on.

It has been good to see some action on the transfer front but IMHO we badly need a creative midfielder , an Osborn or a Beavon to produce telling passes and move away from long ball, hit and hope football which is so far from being progressive and oh so dull to watch.

How certain are we that we'd receive anything if Bayern sell? It feels like we're pretty far down the chain at this point. I saw reports that Palace have a 15% sell-on clause, but would we really have a sell-on clause linked to Palace's sell-on clause? That seems a bit unlikely.
Apologiies if this has been confirmed elsewhere

If you want us to move away from long ball, we need to move away from Richardson!

I think it's something to do with the fact he came through our academy so we get a far whack purely based on that rather than any more sell ons which are unlikely now.

It’s nowt to do with sell on clauses it’s to do with FIFA’s solidarity payment scheme whereby any club that partook in the development of a player gets a small percentage cut (1-5% I think, depending on how much development was contributed) of any transfer fee that that player subsequently moves for until that player retires. So any player that spends time in Reading’s, or any other club’s, academy earns a bit of extra bunce for the club when they move for a fee.

Olise would have earned Reading a percentage of the €60m that Bayern paid for him in 2024 but that’s nothing compared to the percentage the club could earn on the back of the likely immense fee that will probably make up his next move (though knowing our luck he’ll let his contract run down). There are rumours though that Madrid are plotting a rumoured €220m/£190m bid but I expect that’s just talk from Florentino Perez, however stranger things have happened.

I think that the balls will get longer and the dogged out-fitnessing of the opposition will only increase following the arrival of yet another Accrington chucklehead.

From what i’ve read Coleman favours the pressing style of play, winning the ball high up the pitch etc. can’t see that being implemented easily with the players we have to hand currently though.

An Azeez sell on seems more likely than an Olise mega move. Sell Savage too and we'd have probably broken even with transfer fees this summer, or perhaps made net income.

Which has proven to be less than mustard over the last few years. I do worry that he now has to get Richardson his tea and call his second choice fullback, ‘Gaffer’ from now on. I would be more interested in us taking on new ideas from more modern coaches than going back to the plucky league two Northern mill town well of antiquity.

Bit ageist to think that someone of a certain age can't take on board modern coaching ideas. I've no idea whether this is a good move or not but isn't Rob Kelly a similar age, wasn't raised against him.

Might as well ask if he any good with AI or if he played at Bradford.

I am. He’s 19- 20 in November and the club have obviously seen he is captain material as he is captain of the U 21’s. I would hope he can add to his 2 EFL Trophy appearances last season maybe in the League cup match at Bromley next month. At one of the U 21 end of season matches i did try and ask a couple of the staff if Duah had been training with the 1st team at all. Didn’t get a definitive answer :D I hope he has been because i rate him highly( as i do Carter Bowdery !)

Did we give Duah a new contract or did we trigger a one year extension?

From what I've seen of him, we'd've been mad to only give him a new one year deal.

Nothing this bloke has to say will convince or be of any interest to me so won’t go searching for it.
Just try talking to a few Aldershot supporters. They finished last season as badly as Reading did.
Pleased now I saved my money and didn’t sign up to the Accrington 2.0 project.
Richardson was bad enough but Richardson and Coleman? WTAF.

Coleman deserves a chance as does anybody in a new job. New surroundings can often bring a change in fortune. Sadly he has joined as part of the Richardson project that started brightly but sadly nosedived back to earth! Richardson needs to hit the ground running otherwise things will turn South extremely quickly and Coleman will be moved on as quickly as Richardson if and when it fails.

This. Give the guy a chance, he is very experienced and has been successful in his own right, it’s not exactly easy taking any club from the 8th tier to the 4th tier whoever you are. He might be able to provide insights Leam will benefit greatly from, he will also know the lower divisions given that’s probably where we’ll be shopping in the main for the next big thing.

Quite agree though that things need start on the front foot and at the very very least give us a club worth watching on the pitch as if it’s more of the same dreariness & **** results from last season then RC and JJ are going to have some very difficult (for them) decisions to make.
