We do need to start well and that probably includes pre season to some extent

Plus side is the squad definitely looks a lot stronger than this time last year - don’t think we’re far off a solid side now

The difference between a good and a great season is minimal, the rest is vibes.

You'd think there will be 4 - 5 squads capable of automatic promotion and another 5 - 6 capable of the play offs, with the difference being a mix of good management and luck with injuries (and even injuries aren't pure luck).

I'd expect that we'll be in the second bucket. I wouldn't say we're likely to have one of the "six best" squads, but it's looking like it will be good enough that if we miss out, it'll be because other clubs managed their squads better.

In other words, had a better manager.

Yes it Josh stokes from Bristol city. A CAM, 22, was on loan at Stockport last season

Brogue's alter ego suggesting Josh Stokes. So an Aldershot connection, but fair play an exciting signing. Let's not hold it against anyone if Coleman can vouch for his character and professionalism (though obviously people will).

Great signing if true. I know signing players we need is the bare minimum an owner should be doing, but we are filling those gaps in good time this year.

Yep. The view was 5 or 6 quality signings needed; this will be 4 when pre season is barely starting. Plenty of time to integrate and get used to the manager's demands. We may get a couple arriving late, but we're in good shape for a fast start this season.

If this comes off, we're already looking at competition and depth as much as starters. Another attacking midfielder option, another CB, potentially another LB. What else? Not much.

Looks a solid signing on paper. Plenty of men’s level games at a good standard

Yeah not loads else to do. I’d take another striker and CB, midfielder if Savage leaves. Otherwise happy with where we are

I'd take a utility attacking player who can cover off lots of positions, unless we think Brown and Ehibhatiomhan cover off that role, in which case another out and out striker.

From a quick scan around seems he is quite an aggressive pressing player, seen him score a few headers as well. I’m quite happy about this, does seem we have a better plan this year up top with a lot more work rate and pace

Coleman wasn't his manager at Aldershot - he only took charge for last season and Stokes was there a couple of seasons early (looked excellent at 19)
