Who wins/loses the World Cup of punditry for you then?

Giroud has to be the worst right?

I don't think there are any winners.

We have some excellent pundits/experts for cricket, golf, horse-racing etc but when it comes to football nobody out of so many of them shines IMHO.

Rooney has gone up a little bit in my estimation.
Shearer on co-comms has become bearable.
Bit bored of Micah Richards (and Gary Lineker for that matter).
I think my preference is when they rotate in someone who is between jobs, and still "current" - e.g your Cesc Fabregas or your Jurgen Klopps. They sh1t all over your Stephen Warnocks and your Danny Murphys.

Yes, Giroud was (surprisingly) bloody awful.

Rooney continues to amaze with his insight and thoughtful but forthright comments. His development over the last year or so has come as a major surprise to me. Good on him.

He looks a lot healthier these days too

Yes, he is more perceptive than most but I suspect non-scousers could have done with an interpreter.

Doesn’t he just?

Having thought of him as a bit of a dumb-arse and then seen him ballooning after he quit playing, and then to all intents and purposes failing in management, I have to say I’ve found it all oddly heartwarming.

Rooney has definitely improved. At least he's honest, WC final entertainment, Henderson's inclusion etc. Rather that than bland nothingness. Most of the continental pundits were poor, Giroud probably the worst.

Co-comms is where both broadcasters fall short. Totally different job to being a pundit. Don't mind Shearer and Murphy as MOTD pundits, but IMHO they're awful at doing the live comms. Ally McCoist is still the best at that by a country mile, only one who spots stuff straight away, very rarely gets it wrong. Why ITV go with Matterface and Dixon for the big games when they've got Champion and McCoist is beyond me.
