You are of course right but the way things are going they may have to start to think a bit more carefully before alienating those who pay to turn up to games on a regular basis. I can't see a stampede for season tickets this summer, particularly if they are stupid enough to increase prices (over possibly the increase in VAT).Svlad Cjelli wrote:If you can get critical mass to do this then it might work - for one match.
But what you're missing is the fact that any football club has far greater powers over home supporters than they do over away supporters - they have CCTV, a way of identifying you and the ability to take away your member card and stop you coming back for an indeterminate number of matches. They don't have that sort of leverage over away supporters for obvious reasons.
Whilst the mentaility is "for every hooligan I ban I attract a family of four" I doubt it.RoyalBlue wrote:You are of course right but the way things are going they may have to start to think a bit more carefully before alienating those who pay to turn up to games on a regular basis. I don't see how turning on the middle class and alienating women and families is going to help your cause and criticising the club for wanting to encourage a more family friendly support certainly does not do anything to encourage it to put any pressure it can bear towards altering the status quo. Perhaps you can explain what's wrong with middle class people, families and women attending... unless, of course, the cause is really to go back to the bad old days after all and all rhetoric about safe standing is just a smoke screen?Svlad Cjelli wrote:Whilst the mentaility is "for every hooligan I ban I attract a family of four" I doubt it.
The whole marketing emphasis at the moment seems to be to create a middle-class paradise and that there is an endless stream of families/females who just need the right conditions in the stadium and the right type of food being sold in the kiosks and then they'll be along in their droves. Nasty, noisy people who stand up and swear are clearly seen as one of the factors keeping these people away.
Absolutely not - but all the hooligans at the MadStad were rooted out and banned years ago - and good riddance to them, absolutely!66DD wrote:I don't see how turning on the middle class and alienating women and families is going to help your cause and criticising the club for wanting to encourage a more family friendly support certainly does not do anything to encourage it to put any pressure it can bear to wards altering the status quo. I hope my last post also answers this....Yellowcoat wrote:Very good point. SC often gives the impression he sides with the thugs in society.
I've sat next to undercover police at home and away games but never heard of the club sending their own staff to watch for persistent standers at away matches. If we really have done that then the football club really should be investing theirs and our money elsewhere where it's more beneficial, perhaps on the playing staff!Big Foot wrote:This is probably the appropriate place to comment that apparently the club sent 2 plain clothed "spotters" to the game yesterday to identify fans standing at away games.

This is a wind up Footy, right?
So having been chucked out for persistent standing by the Narch stewards what retribution can I expect from the Tangos at home next week.
If this is true then those in charge at RFC have completely lost their marbles!Big Foot wrote:Was told by 4 different people on the concourse at H/T on SaturdayNegative_Jeff wrote:Big Foot wrote:This is probably the appropriate place to comment that apparently the club sent 2 plain clothed "spotters" to the game yesterday to identify fans standing at away games.[/quote
