as annoying as they are the clappers aren't any where near as bad as those ridiculous cardboard crowns they were giving out at the last home game it's fine seeing young children wearing one but middled aged blokes having a cardboard crown on their head really was sad.

Don't really mind the clappers now - as has been said they've lost their novelty to a lot of people so really now you only see a few kids using them, and only before the game.

What I do mind is that f1cking band. It completely kills the atmosphere - the songs are rubbish and they play at the most inopportune moments. Hate them.

When you sit in the lower west and try to join in songs/chants from Y25/26 or the drummer its depressing enough when you get drowned out by morons who just clap inanely because they don't know the words, but when you add in the clappers its magnifies the problem, you can't hear any singing from the other stands, you can only hear what sounds like 24,000 people getting 40 lashes.

Well past moaning about this, I actually find it quite funny now. It does make a noise, and lets face it, if our support was actually capable of creating some kind of atmosphere itself then we would'nt need gimics.

I even heard people moaing about Seas of Scarves. Get real for christ sake. Taking a scarf to football and showing your colours is as traditional as it gets. Only diff is now that we need the club to tell us to do things like that. If we had the whole ground waving a blue and white scarf it would look superb, but no, most people even refuse to do that and stick to the same old cringeworthy chants you hear at ever other ground.

Making a noise with a rattle or similar device is also 'about as traditional as you can get'. The creation of atmosphere was always helped by this type of thing. Those who have a difficulty with it are just missing the point.

Good examples RB. But Pants Day wasnt even this millenium and Beard Day ended about 6 years ago and started well before we left EP. I coudn't see today's generation coming up with something as daft and funny as Beard Day. Just not enough community in the game today for something like that to happen. In fact, Beard Day (or lack of it) is a great example of how our support has changed over the years.

The so called die hard fans in Y26/Y27 went quiet as soon as we went behind and it was the drummer and those in the north stand (with their clappers) that kept the atmosphere alive. Without them, it would have been like the usual Mad Stad with no atmosphere at all when were losing.
