Its a disgrace that Utd fans are allowed to stand for the whole game. Could you imagine us getting away with it anywhere? Its gutless from the club, pure and simple. You cannot have one rule for one and another for 2,000 others.

Yes, we'd get away with it if 2000 people stood.

Sadly, only a few do, hence they are easily picked out and ejected.

Plus of course, home fans have something to lose - being allowed back in for the next match. For away fans, there's hardly any comeback on what they do at away matches. There's no system of reciprical bans or anything like that.

But Reading fans don't stand away either.

And how many were quietly apprehended in the concourse at half-time and ejected as the club would have us believe happens?

And will the club actually carry out the threat of further reducing the ManU ticket allocation next time they visit because of the persistent standing of their fans and consequential threat to safety? Or will loss of income be regarded as more of an issue than this particular safety breach?

By some peculiar law of physics, it is clearly only really unsafe if home supporters stand!

I would prefer not to stand all the way through the game, but often, particularly last Saturday, I stand for a large proportion of the game, otherwise I can't see anything. Standing areas would at least give the option to those who want to stand throughout.

I do reckon there should be a all standing area because there is a large section of fans who want to stand and then you wouldnt get in the way of fans who want to sit and everyones a winner.

I would venture that there will be a lot of Reading fans standing at Everton - primarily because:

a) the first 5 or 6 rows are at ground level so you can't see further than about 15 yards and,

b) the seats are so cramped together than anyone over 5' 10'' will have problems sitting down.

but whoever wants to stand up at home matches should move to y24, y25 and y26 thats where i will be moving

I did a completely unscientific survey on MOTD at the weekend and noticed the vast majority of fans of the following clubs standing throughout their games:

Newcastle
Man City
Tottenham (plus large swathes of Man Utd fans)
Middlesbrough
Millwall
Chelsea

I honestly think there's a huge cultural shift happening with away fans at the moment. More and more are standing persistently. I reckon about half the away fans we've seen at the Mad this season have stood throughout the game. This is, of course, bad news for fans who want to sit, but the FLA seem insistent on refusing to accept this is happening and relaxing their rules to allow designated standing and seating areas.

Different rules for the FA Cup. You can get away with almost anything, like, for instance deliberately kicking someone in the stomach.

Everyone is just following what United fans started to do in the early 90's, stand in seated areas.

I honestly believe that if United fans started to sit then everyone would follow, just like how all firms now wear black.

Given that we are unlikely to take 5,000 to wigan.I assume that those of us that want to stand will be able to congregate at the back of the stand and remain standing throughout the game with out being hassled (?)

The German ones still have seats.

Some German ones can be "converted" to seats, but many Germany terraces are just ordinary terraces, albeit built to more modern standards - and there are no "standing areas" in seated sections.

Typically because there are terraces already, the people that want to stand are standing already, and far less people feel the need to stand up in seated areas.
