Yes, but to get that bus I need to get another bus, it takes what seems like hours to get there, and the last time I got it, it took so long to get out of the stadium that the bus had left by the time I got there.

At £6.40 for a return on the train and then £3.50 for the bus, it's now cheaper for me to drive from Farnborough and park in Reading, even at the £8 they are charging for stadium parking this season.

This is the thing that makes me laugh the most. They encourage people to use public transport by charging extortionate car parking fees, then put the cost of public transport up to and from the game Though of course, the real reason is that they know that people will pay it regardless

Interesting that the matchday buses are now run by Goldline – a division of Reading Transport. And that Reading Buses travelcards and Busabout tickets aren’t valid on the football services.

If they were a bit more sensible on the pricing and ticket validity, they might find more people willing to pay. Bet there’s a 25% jib rate.

That would solve the first problem, if you could park for free in the side streets (which you can't). Doesn't solve the other 2, plus in my car I can listen to my music and there's nobody behind sneezing into my hair.

The council subsidise the non money making routes, so its a pure profiteering scheme. I can understand that their costs are over and above normal services due to the extra buses and staff but I can't see as they require £3.50 for a return to the stadium and back

Quite. Particularly as they can be sure of a far higher occupancy rate than on many other routes.

Effing typical hypocracy from those who claim that there main concern is the environment and that is the reason why they want people out of their cars and onto public transport.

Football supporters are easy game and they will be stung by clubs (not just RFC), local authorities and others, in every way that they can.

LOL that it's perfectly acceptable, from RBC's perspective, for people to drive to the Mad Stad and park if they want to shop in the town but not OK for people to drive there and park to watch the footie! If public transport is so damn fantastic then make the shoppers use it for the whole of their journey!

Just looked on the Bristol City website and they charge a flat £1 rate for all bus services to Ashton Gate. I suspect that's each way, but even so it's still much, much cheaper than Reading.

I usually get a single there and walk back. Fecked if I'm standing in a queue for more than 5 minutes when I could go for free and get some excercise. I'd walk to the game as well, but it's the time it takes that puts me off that. I may have to start considering it though. It costs enough for the ticket and the train. Even though I have a railcard.

At least this season it won't cost me about £90 to see 1 game.
