So if Reading Buses want you to use the bus system more often and get out of your cars,they should start lowering prices rather than raising them.

Well it's inevitable when it costs 5 million dollars to park a car anywhere that the buses would increase their margins.

If there's 4 of us a taxi to the ground snd then free bus back to town now seems almost certain every week, in fact just 3 of us might make it worthwhile

It cost me £8 to park my car for the Villa match, so I'm assuming the car parking prices have gone up for the season too.

That is disgusting, a full 50p more than a day busabout anywhere in Reading. As SF says, taxi between four people is a shade over £10 then the utilisation of an old bus ticket for a free bus back after the game for exactly the same price

No, from the town centre it's £3.50 (the 77 and 79). The 'inner zone' on local routes is $4.50 (wherever that covers), but it's not the shuttle buses.

It's still pushing the limits of what's an acceptable price though.

Im not so bothered about the increase, its inevitable but the prices are too expensive generally.
The shuttle from and to the station now costs almost as much as my return train ticket from Newbs (admittedly with my 16-25 railcard)

I'll be intrigued to see what they charge LI, their return tickets to the Mad were £2.60 as opposed to £3 anyway. It's something I have never been able to work out, are they saying that less people use the football match days than the rugby ones, or is it just a blatant over charge for football fans as always

The council subsidise the non money making routes, so its a pure profiteering scheme. I can understand that their costs are over and above normal services due to the extra buses and staff but I can't see as they require £3.50 for a return to the stadium and back

But most games are played when the buses would be sat in the depot, off peak and at wekends and drivers seem to like the O/T

Straight on often without even acknowledging the driver, sit at back of the bus and then emergency exit door to get out without queuing.

I used this ruse on Saturday - flashed an old ticket and then walked right to the back of the bus. There was a bloke checking tickets who tried to get my mate to pay for me until my mate told him that it wasn't his problem I think they may be having a bit of a clampdown on "fare evasion" or whatever they call it these days.

At £6.40 for a return on the train and then £3.50 for the bus, it's now cheaper for me to drive from Farnborough and park in Reading, even at the £8 they are charging for stadium parking this season.
