Not sure he missed deliberately, but either way it failed coz mcManaman netted the reboundDeathy wrote:ISTR Fowler did once.Wycombe Royal wrote:So if a penalty is awarded for something that didn't happen and it is obvious to all concerned should the team deliberately miss the penalty?
I seem to remember Fowler pleeding with a ref that it was not a fowl, and then taking the penalty himself and it went straight to the keeper. Anyone?chilipepper91 wrote:Not sure he missed deliberately, but either way it failed coz mcManaman netted the reboundDeathy wrote:ISTR Fowler did once.Wycombe Royal wrote:So if a penalty is awarded for something that didn't happen and it is obvious to all concerned should the team deliberately miss the penalty?
AT Highbury when he was "fouled" by David Seaman. Got up and told the ref it wasn't a pen but the ref wasn't having any of it. As has been said, he took the pen himself and I think the rest was as chilipepper says.Deathy wrote:I seem to remember Fowler pleeding with a ref that it was not a fowl, and then taking the penalty himself and it went straight to the keeper. But what if they, like the officials, thought it wasn't a goal either?!?Ian Royal wrote:In the clip you can see two Brizzle players talking to officials too. If they are saying it wasn't a goal. They should be ashamed.
think it was our friend McAteer who netted the rebound...chilipepper91 wrote:Not sure he missed deliberately, but either way it failed coz mcManaman netted the reboundDeathy wrote:ISTR Fowler did once.Wycombe Royal wrote:So if a penalty is awarded for something that didn't happen and it is obvious to all concerned should the team deliberately miss the penalty?
That's it. I don't recall thickshit McManaman scoring though.T.R.O.L.I. wrote:

That year, he also won a UEFA Fair Play award for admitting that he had not been fouled by, Arsenal goalkeeper, David Seaman at Highbury after a penalty had been given.[13] After unsuccessfully trying to convince the referee to change his decision about the penalty Fowler took it tamely and Seaman saved. However, Seaman failed to hold on to the ball and Jason McAteer scored from the rebound.[14] Many people wrongly believe that Fowler deliberately took the penalty kick poorly for reasons of fair play. However, he later stated that "I tried to score. I never missed on purpose. It just happened, it was a bad penalty."[15]Deathy wrote:That's it. Only they will know if that's the case, but if they genuinely thought it wasn't a goal then obviously there is no shame. Other than the usual for barracking an official.TBM wrote:But what if they, like the officials, thought it wasn't a goal either?!?Ian Royal wrote:In the clip you can see two Brizzle players talking to officials too. Of course they didn't. Emotive language thrown about to try and make a point.
What a quaint turn of phrase about one of the brighter players in an occupation not given to much brightness.Deathy wrote:That's it. I don't recall thickshit McManaman scoring though.T.R.O.L.I. wrote:
