LI have a contract to share the Stadium, the ground staff are used to dealing with pitch problems, hence why RFC and LI have invested a lot of money on said pitch in the last couple of seasons. Do you really believe that they will allow the pitch to deteriorate to a extreme degree, and if so do you really think it will affect RFC that much?

I repeat, you live on what was a flood plain in the past, areas like that are often sodden, the pitch at the MAdstad is raised, and is not a flood plain, and in the last few seasons has had money spent on it, simple really, no need for concern.

It is a pointless discussion when you are dealing with Schards#2, (if that is the voice of reason then God help us); I suspect that if he was in the rain forests of the Amazon he'd be asking if the weather there might somehow affect the pitch at the Madejski. It is a rather quaint move really, ' my back lawn is waterlogged, so the Madejski must be too'. No thought for 'the Madejski pitch is intended for use by professional rugby and football teams and is not made of the same base as a park or my lawn'.

There was an awful lot of rain over the weekend and there have been occasions in the past when that has adversely affected the Madejski pitch, despite the fact it was intended for use by professional rugby and football teams and is not made of the same base as a park or my lawn. Furthermore, using the pitch in those conditions will inevitably have an adverse effect on it. It is just a matter of degree - the very question Schards was posing! We will see the answer come Saturday.

I wouldn't mind betting that, if you had asked the RFC management team whether they were happy about rugby being played on the pitch last weekend, they would have said that, given a choice, they would have preferred it not to have happened.

The amount of vitriol on here towards both Schards and me ( although I didn't even contribute to the "discussion") is pretty disgraceful really. A feasible question was posed - no ranting about why do we ground share with LI or anything else and some people jump on the diss Schards and RL bandwagon.

Anyway, moaning aside

I can be corrected if I'm wrong, but I'm sure the club was loaned some pitch lights to use during the long winter months in order to maintain the pitch's natural state as much as possible, proving it with almost 24 hour light to grow into a strong turf. This, as is apparent this season, has seemed to have a decent amount of good as I can remember this time last year people moaning about the state of the pitch as it had about 3 clear channels where blades of grade were little more than a collectors item. Understandably with the rain we've had it could cause concern, but if it did cause damage the pitch would have been able to recover due to the care theyve been putting in recently.
