Anyone else slightly concerned that it's going to get trashed by the rugby. It must be very sodden and with three absolutely crucial home games coming up, i'm hoping it doesn't get decimated by the rugger buggers.

The ruggers is a nice bit of income for the club - if you're a Championship club, but when you're bringing in £50-£60m a season in the Premiership, surely it's small fry and if anything, a hinderance in terms of wear and tear on the pitch.

I was hoping we would say goodbye to the egg chasers but that is quite a lengthy deal they have at the Madejski now.

We've got a week until the next home game. It's not like last season when we had a load of Friday night games ahead of our Saturday ones when the weather had been poor.

However we still have a better surface that some other clubs that do not have rugby, we could build the extension, I seem to recall the new stands had a clear section all arond the roof to allow more light to get to pitch level and help the grass grow.

I took the dog for a walk this morning, the ground was absolutely sodden, I noticed London Irish were playing today and was worried the pitch might suffer.

What exactly is the/your problem with that?

Anyhoo, the weather's eased and the pitch looks like it's holding up well on the telly. If it had continued to rain today I'd worry, but with 25mins left at the Mad and with it being dry but windy, I think the pitch'll be fine.

you are basically complaining about RFC sharing a the ground, Lower Earley is bound to be sodden it was built on a flood plain.

We share the ground, we get shedloads of money for it, that helps the Stadium and its costs. FWIW I popped in to B&Q while the game was on, loads of noise from inside to be heard.

IMHO it is a shame that the ground sharing was not planeed before the ground was built, as they could have added 20m to the length of the pitch, allowing less wear on the busy areas as the lines could be alternated, causing less bare patches.
