I think I'd be a bit irritated in this situation as well. Long time thick and thin supporter, whole family too, long time season ticket holder ditto. A woman who has retired at 60. Some flexibility and common sense should prevail, surely.

Disagree.
You cannot have flexibility in this situation.
What you do need are rules that are fair and consistent - once you have that then they shoul dbe applied failry and consistently, flexibility would mean some people getting concessions not becasue they were actually entitled but becasue they came up with an Evening Post front page.
I would have thought that concessions should be available to anyone drawing the state pension and given on production of evidence of this. Age isn't the real qualifying factor is it ?

6000 renewaLOLs, LOLoyaLOL supporters.Even if they sell 1000 a day only 10,000 or so would have renewed. That is thoroughly dissapointing. Really thought more people would have got into the habit of going to football and would have taken up the renewal offer, we are right back to square one from a couple of years ago. Expect 14,15,000 crowds again. Sigh.

Yes actually. Not 18,000 but was 14,000 that unrealistic? All fans have to start somewhere in terms of 'loyal' support. Once you get into the habit of doing things its quite hard to get out of it. I was hoping at least some of them would have enjoyed just going to football and enjoyed watching Reading enough that they would want to renew regardless.

In terms of figures literally ZERO have. We had 10,000 ST holders in the CCC before, we will have roughly that figure again. Disappointing.

The price is a fair one, could it be the percieved lack of ambition from the club that people think 'well why should i bother then?' Or is it simply down to the bandwagon has crashed and lets all get out of here?!

The thing is, a lot of the people who we've picked up would have at least have started going in the Championship year and will have known initially how easy it was to get tickets for the majority of games pre-Xmas (and then would have got their half ST).

Now we're back there they will more than likely want to go to games like Soton, QPR etc. but the games against say Blackpool and Doncaster will have no interest to them at all now - but they know that nearer the time they could order a ticket a week before at a decent price.

They have more points on their card now as well which will add to the ease in purchasing for home & away games plus getting a HST again at Xmas if it looks like being a good year.

Also out of the say 11k so do renew, some will be newer STs whilst some older holders will choose not to renew for whatever.

The reirment age for women is 60, and for men it's 65, so the logic, you would assume, is that the concession is intened to apply to retirment age - but it doesn't.

It's a blanket 65, regardless of sex, so all those women who have retired at 60 and no longer have a wroking income still have to pay the fulll price.

Applying the rule to state pension age would be even more complicated in a couple of years though.

Currently, the State Pension age is 65 for men born before 6 April 1959. For women born on or before 5 April 1950, State Pension age is 60.

The State Pension age for women born on or after 6 April 1950 will increase gradually to 65 between 2010 and 2020.

From 6 April 2020 the State Pension age will be 65 for both men and women.

So the age for cencession for women would vary every year between 2010 and 2020.

Looking even further ahead, the issue would be more difficult still from 2024.

Between 2024 and 2046 the State Pension age will increase for both men and women. This increase will be gradual, happening over two years every decade. The changes will mean that:

State Pension age for men and women will increase from 65 to 66 between April 2024 and April 2026
State Pension age for men and women will increase from 66 to 67 between April 2034 and April 2036
State Pension age for men and women will increase from 67 to 68 between April 2044 and April 2046

The 18K STH figure bandied about was for our first season in the Premiership. Pretty sure that last season it dropped to under 16K. This season we’re looking at, I reckon, a maximum of 12K STHs. Far more people will pick and choose their games, let's face it, there's going to be more capacity in the stands for groups of non-STH to book seats in the week prior to the game.

Which top 4 are you using ?
You can get a free disabled ticket at Chelsea if you are prepared to take a gamble on which game you get, but not a free season ticket (IIRC). Liverpool don't do free disabled tickets and neither do Arsenal.

It's an interesting debate as to whether concessions should be universally applied for disabled fans. I can see the case for those on restricted incomes getting a discount and obviously some disabilities greatly restrict your ability to earn, but simply being disabled doesn't make you less able to afford a ticket.

Lots of people simply dont have the spare cash around to afford a season ticket at the moment. I've been a season ticket holder since Elm Park and this season im going to struggle to find the £800 for me and my son. I'll probably get him one and buy mine on match days. Perhaps many people are thinking along the same lines as me.
Saying that i'll probably get a half season ticket at Christmas once my cash flow has improved

The prices are fair,not as bad as i expected last season.
With all the Credit Crunch and all,it's not left a major hole in my finances.
