You really need to run the maths to see where the tipping point is.Harpers So Solid Crew wrote:you make less money over a sucessful run, but as bradford have shown you make good money long term, bums on seats, pile it high sell it cheap, call it what you like, but there is money to be made, unless tesco and Sir ian whatsit knew shite about business.
Are you referring to the 2 for 1 or my "free" bring a friend??Dirk Gently wrote:Why is someone else's good fortune your misfortune?
they only get 2 for 1 on this one gameMatt de K wrote:Next season I think I'm just gonna buy tickets for the games I want to go to and take advantage of these sort of offers.
Whilst I appreciate that the stadium will be full(er) and the atmosphere maybe slightly better than the norm. I feel slightly put out that some people get effectively a 2 for 1 offer on what I've paid slightly less than the normal person would. YET for renewing my ST early, I get a "bring a mate for free" (before December).
thats fine, if you struggle to make every game don't have a season ticket, and yes this type of program will make not having a season ticket even more attractive to youMatt de K wrote:Whilst I agree and see your points, this sort of offer together with living in Bournemouth is seriously making me think very hard about renewing again. Evening games are now more hassle to get to now that my working circumstances have changed (I no longer work in Reading)

I've lived in Bournemouth now for just over 1 year. But as said earlier I used to work in Reading, so evening matches I would stay with my Bro's after the match, then just do the short 10mile trip to work the following day. That ended not so long ago when I was made redundant. So while I'm working in Bournemouth that means that I now have to finish up here then fly up the A338/A31/M27/M3/A33 in rush hour. By the time I've parked my car and walked to the stadium I'm pushing it to get there for kick off. Then I have to do the journey back south after the match as I start work at 8 and don't want the hassle of having to leave my Bro's at 6am to get to work on time.Huntley & Palmer wrote:I really don't understand why someone who lives far enough away to make going to football 'hard work' would be a ST holder in the first place? Granted, in the Premiership first season it was a necessity but since then you haven't needed to buy one at all. As far as I am concerned, you are simply paying for the priviledge of having a seat next to your mates for every game without the hassle of organising it yourself
I've been a season ticket holder since the Mad Stad was made reserved seating, and have renewed every season with the exact thinking as yours Dirk. Footy is a great excuse to get out of things, and sometimes away from things!!Dirk Gently wrote:Part of it is that having a ST forces/enables you to go to every game. "I would come shopping (or whatever) with you on Saturday, darling, but there's a game on and I've alredy paid for it....."
There are certainly matches I would have skipped in the past if I'd not had a ST which I would have regretted skipping as it turned out.
Having the ST puts those matches into your diary at the start of the season, not on a week-by-week basis when they're in conflict with all the other demands on your time.
Take the afternoon off work. Leaves you with plenty of time to get to Reading.Matt de K wrote:So while I'm working in Bournemouth that means that I now have to finish up here then fly up the A338/A31/M27/M3/A33 in rush hour. Given your post count - I guess you spend the morning on here!Thaumagurist* wrote:Take the afternoon off work. At least that's what I do.
Are you sure about that? I really don't remember the differential being that big. £330-£350 for East Stand renewals maybe?starliaison wrote:No £300 was the north stand only in an attempt to fill it (a little way along the lines HSSC suggests), both East and Lower West were £425 (from memory) and Upper West more.weybridgewanderer wrote:
