I seem to have missed the part where they say that you get quadruple loyalty points for every home game that you attend whilst Richardson is still manager!

I dont like change.

I'll be sticking with the ST single payment.

I also note that the points change if I miss a game will encourage people to hand STs to other people, so the club could miss out on revenue. Seems like a daft idea to me, why put that penalty on if you've paid the money?

Same here. I sit in the Upper West with my son, and it will cost me £600 to renew the traditional way, or an extra £200 with the new bundles. I’m already on 1600+ points, so this scheme has no real benefit for me.

I assume, as before, that in the early rounds of the cups, if we’re even drawn at home, only one stand will be open, so I wouldn’t be able to sit in my regular seat anyway.
Really have no interest in going tomorrow, my son does so I will just hand my ticket to a mate of his for free, would do this for most games, moving forward

I understand the club is trying to find innovative ways to increase revenue, but it does feel like a “brand new customers only” approach, the kind you might expect from the biggest capitalist country in the world.

And me, always thought the fact that you commit a large chunk of money up front, you get the points to reflect that so a bit disappointed the club doesn't recognise that as a big commitment anymore, can't be arsed to worry about a few points here or there though.

Not too bothered with the away games anymore, it's bad enough watching us at home!

I now live in Scotland since 2022 and do attend a reasonable number of home games, hence why a season ticket to sit with my friends for over 25 years is the right thing to do. I will also attend a reasonable number of away matches in the northern half of England it is a shame that my loyalty after having been a season ticket holder since 1997 will impact the games I can now easily get to to. I do fly from Scotland and back on the same day for those home games I can attend, which does incur more expense than those who live locally which is my choice to support my team.

I fully understand that football teams are generally a locally supported, however it is not beyond the IT utilised to help those closer to away games to support the team and be given a fair chance to do so, especially if they are a season ticket holder.

As a distant customer, but a loyal one the One Royal holds no appeal to me personally. Perhaps they should consider those which are quite a few some degree of obtaining away tickets.

I am not against change but always to be inclusive.

Another scenario around not giving points for games you don't attend, however I doubt you'll have any problem getting tickets for any northern game.

For context I see a few Reading fans have been saying people complaining about this need get a grip. Citing Morecambe as an example

Here are Morecambe prices in the national league north. Their Earley bird prices are £50 more than a ST in the east. Which rises to £625 if you didn’t take the early bird offer

We definitely need to be thankful for what we have in this regard

Can someone just tell me... I don't want monthly payments, I avoid them wherever possible - including insurance, council tax even, and just prefer an annual or one-off fee.

Can I still benefit from the higher tiers by just paying a lump sum?

What's life like up there?

I am over in Y25 and Y26. It's ok, but I am sick of some of the people around me and considering a move. I've never really sat anywhere else - other than a handful of games where it was hard to judge long term

Next season, it appears that I have an option to either pay up front for a season ticket or commit to 12 monthly payments, yet only get loyalty points for the games I can actually get to.

Looks like I might be better off not making any commitment and just paying for tickets when I can attend.
Or some may not bother at all.

It would seem crazy if you couldn't. Why would they want to miss out on a larger lump sum up front? They could still have auto-renew (with 3 months' notice required to opt out).

Good that you can pay monthly without any interest charges and credit checks, will be good for those who require it.

But the decision to give more loyalty points dependent on how much you pay is a really poor decision and warrants all the criticism it is getting. As someone who is just shy of 2.2k points and goes to every home league & cup match (and the occasional U21's/U18's) and between 15-20 away matches a season, I am going to be worse off unless I pay at least another £100+. Add the fact points are going to be awarded on a per game basis rather than an upfront commitment that feels unfair (especially if you pay in one lump sum like I will next week),

Yep, that's my single biggest issue. I give the club £415 of my hard-earned money next week, yet I still have to wait until mid-August to get 10 points, as opposed to 255 immediately. Or I wait until August, pay £34.48 and get the same 10 points once I attend the game.

Feels like all the benefits of having a ST have been slashed, in order to make One Royal see more attractive. That doesn't feel right.

Know a few ST-holders who for whatever reason, don't actually attend many home games. Long-term fans, students at Uni far away, benevolent people etc, who will now be penalised on the new points awarding system for any away games they may wish to attend.

I disagree. I think you should only get the points for attending games, not paying for a ticket.

I agree that the whole thing of getting more points the more you spend is wrong though.

It's never been easier to miss a home match and not feel guilty about it (red button for 12:30pm KO's, Thursday night matches, the rise of illegal firesticks, midweek matches kicking off at 8pm). As for telling the club you can't attend so you still get the 5 points, presumably the ticket in question just goes back onto the website so they can resell it?!?

Not sure I really get it, you’re giving the club £300-£400 irrespective of whether TV ***** about with the game, or illness or sudden personal stuff prevents you going, so the club mark you down for it!? OK they may say that you can free up your seat in that eventuality, but then they could effectively sell your seat twice and you don’t even get your full loyalty points as a result. :?

I’d say it was a bit naughty myself.

Counter-productive if that leads to people deciding not to get a season ticket or sign up to One Royal. Good luck with encouraging enough additional people to pay to attend every game to compensate for those lost up front sales.
