Huge difference in the quality around him though. Would imagine he'd do well playing with Joao. Even if Long has lost a yard of pace, he will still be quicker than the majority of defenders in the league. Joao winning the first header and getting Long in behind could be a go to ploy.Stranded wrote:If Long coming back can have a similar impact as Jason Roberts then it will be a worthwhile deal.
It could galvanise the team from top to bottom. The youngsters could learn a lot from him and if he chips in with a goal or 5, no one would say no to that.Stranded wrote:If Long coming back can have a similar impact as Jason Roberts then it will be a worthwhile deal.
And Long winning the first header for Joao to get on the end of would be an equally good option....NathStPaul wrote:Huge difference in the quality around him though. Talking in relative terms obviously, not taking a good team and making them a very good one. But if Long can help galvanise a side so as to avoid a relegation battle this year then it's worthwhile.NathStPaul wrote:Huge difference in the quality around him though. Yep. We have enough! Plus Ebit!Nameless wrote:Zip wrote:If Long were to join presumably we don’t buy Adeboyejo too. Different types of players but surely with Joao, Long, Meite, Azeez and Clarke we would have enough (assuming Puski is off).
Why does no one remember Melvin-Lambert !

I agree - if Long takes the role we offered Wickham and Adeboyejo then this makes sense. If we still pursue those 2 then we are stocking our team with mediocre signings. If Puscas is off - then hopefully we look at a better calibre LB / CM by using a % of his wages.Zip wrote:If Long were to join presumably we don’t buy Adeboyejo too. Fulton would certainly be one who I’m sure we could persuade if we can pay near what he’s on at SwanseaCoppells Lost Coat wrote:I agree - if Long takes the role we offered Wickham and Adeboyejo then this makes sense. According to Planet Swans Fulton is on £16k a week. We would need them to still pay a fair amount of his wages.Hound wrote:Fulton would certainly be one who I’m sure we could persuade if we can pay near what he’s on at SwanseaCoppells Lost Coat wrote:I agree - if Long takes the role we offered Wickham and Adeboyejo then this makes sense. Wouldn’t be fully against Adeboyejo if he was very cheap relatively. Wickham certainly not if we pick up Long
Yep - maybe we could get up to about 12k if we lost one of our higher earners in Puscas - who is I’m guessing on about 15-20Zip wrote:According to Planet Swans Fulton is on £16k a week.
