Not at all, they tar everyone with the same brush. Reading 'shirters' never even used to drink in town, it's only since the club starting doing well (last season and this season) that they actually bother.

Brannigans used to have a decent deal where drinks were half price if you had a season ticket back in 2000/2001 but that place was sh1t.

I mean i never weqar a shirt, usually go to the walkabout but and they ask you show your ST before entry. No problems what so ever. Forum's the same.

The Forum has been closed for ages now, and it was never open for big games

Walkabout used to rarely be open on Saturday mornings for big games either, they only seemed to have opened the last 18 months or so. Both Wetherspoons used to all turn football fans away, so there was very little choice in where to drink. Theres never been a pub where fans could congregate in and chant/drink. The nearest to that was in The Monks before the trouble after the Brighton game in 2002 which caused them to ban football fans.

Strange really, as every other town/city centres pubs welcome fans and don't mind the odd broken window as they get 300 people buying beer non stop for 3 hours plus every other week.

Before people say what about the Rose & Thistle, that's not in the town centre.

Annoys me every time in town, that no one pub is very welcoming of fans. The nearest I seem to have discovered is the walkabout, that insists on customers having a season ticket or membercard.

It'd be good to have one place where most people pack out every week before a game.

The monks retreat are oxf*rd. No shirts? Please! More fool them for turning down thousands of pounds in football-related beer buying

my manc mate told me yesterday that 35,000 people applied for 2,200 tickets and most of the fans believe they are going to charge a gate and try and get through it that way.

i also turned down 400 quid for both my tickets, a limo to and from the away game, a hotel overnight and meeting some of the players

There was about half a dozen Leeds fans sat a few rows in front of us last season at the Mad Stad - when they they scored they stood up cheering - no one complained, kicked off and they weren't asked to leave.

I do recall though some manc fan who thought it was a blinding idea to come stand on the right side of the bank with his kids I think - during the FA Cup game a good few years ago. As memory serves he got a smack in the face when he cheered their first goal

i remember that, i was only young and thought it would be great to stand at that end and shout insults really load in my pre pubecent voice at cantona, then giggs scored and 2 or 3 mancs started jumping up and down!!! then loads of fists came over my shoulder and started smacking the blokes heads in, they got threw out!!!!! one of many great memories from elm park

yeh, after the game......jazz club were turning away 100's of fans to satisfy 6 jazz punters and you could bot get into the millenium bar.....lets hope this changes soon as its a joke....as is the carpark

Thinking about it I am sure there were times at Elm Park - when we were doing well, especially the 94/95 season when you'd have a few Reading fans going in the away end - just to get in.

Then you'd have their mates on the South Bank taking the piss with 'Gary, give us a wave' or something - and you'd look over to see some chap shifting awkwardly and staring at his feet whilst a thousand or so northerners stood there scratching their heads wondering who the fu(k we were singing at

As a student, many moons ago, we went in the away end at a Hereford game. Hereford actually told us to as it was the only place we could get student discount.
