The big price tag leads to high expectations. If you paid £40M for Harry Maguire, for instance, it would have been a good deal

Interesting that Edwards wants to go to Wolves. I think their squad is shocking, he'll lose most games and almost certainly get relegated, and that Middlesbrough have a better chance of being in the PL next season.

But I guess the immediate lure of the PL is strong, and if he somehow keeps them up it's a remarkable achievement on the big stage. But it could go the way of Paul Jewell, who never really recovered from his Derby spell.

He was doing a good job and on track for getting into the playoff which would be seen as a successful season for them. Ok, in the unlikely event he keeps them up he'll be a hero but fail to build on that and he'll be gone by this time next year. If they go down and they don't start next season on fire he'll be gone by this time next year. Who in the championship will look at him at that point and offer him a job knowing that he'll walk as soon as a slightly better offer comes in.
