No ,because they knew that their own fans would have behaved worse and because people didn't want to sue anything that moved unlike now in our "blame" society.
They took it on the chin and moved on whereas some posters on here that follow less successful clubs.......

I don't think Reading have ever qualified for one of the two major European competitions-no,I was thinking of the little club in South-West London with the quaint little old-fashioned ground.

iirc, there had been bans and fixtures played behind closed doors in the early 80s. Villa played one game in their defence of the European cup behind closed doors, Leeds were banned at one point.

So he's got a vague point - all English teams were 'at it' at the time.

There is no way that such a ban could be imposed by UEFA on all teams in a single Federation ever again; the legal ramifications would be mental.

fair play I didn't know that actually - although if by 'at it' you mean multiple deatahs in stadiums you can't say that happened

'At it' = 'supporters causing trouble'

Combine that with a dilapidated stadium and you have a disaster (and, fwiw, Belgium was banned from hosting a major football final for a number of years following Heysel ... ). It was a matter of time and a matter of luck.
