tbf I can understand why he does it...... being rubbish at languages I often find myself speaking English with a spanish/german/etc. accent so people in those countries understand me. Even though it feels really embarassing!

I don't think that interview in Germany was anywhere near as cringeworthy as the one he gave in Holland. But if he chooses to speak in English then he shold speak normally. failing that, he should learn the local lingo.

To us in England yes, to the audience he is addressing no. It does actually make you much easier to understand if you emphasise English in the accent of the country you are in. It's a bridging technique whilst you learn the language.

It actually does as different areas pronounce the words with their own dialect. Not everyone can speak English precisely but will understand the terms.

McLaren will be learning to speak German I'm sure but by putting an accent on his English it makes his speech more accessible.

They just used to say 'F*ck off' in the American-accented English all Dutch seem to use, true Euro-Rock-stylee.

(They did wear clogs though, all of them. WIth white socks. And some had Eurotrash-style comedy moustaches. I think McClaren ought to grow one of those.)
