In Russia, i think its just the general public.

For all we know the player might have made it known that (like Shane Long eating chicken nuggets)he always ate bananas before for a game.
I would love it if that were the case.
I do think that some people's fixation with racism is sometimes OTT.

I think the 'thanks West Brom (for taking this player away)' in conjunction with the banana and their well documented racism probably suggests this is not the case.

The player in question used to run many sancturies for mistreaded monkeys and the logo he used was a banana. 'Thanks' in Russian means 'please look after the monkey sanctuaries'
