Including that windbag Nick Hornby, who got his mum to get him a ticket. He later patronised our fans in Fever Pitch, the oxf*rd.RoyalBlue wrote:Just under 25,000 crammed into Elm Park for the game, so plenty of bandwagoners back then too!

I was there too. Queued for 4 hours I think. I tried to see if I was in any of the photos but to be honest I don't think I'd recognise me as a 16 year old!RoyalBlue wrote:Was that queue for the 1971/72 Arsenal FA Cup game? If so, I was in there somewhere. I can remember the queue going right around Elm Park and beyond with tickets being sold out of a ticket office that wasn't much bigger than a walk in wardrobe! IIRC Brenda in the ticket office used to be quite a looker!
If anyone wants the programme from that game:

Great goal by Barry Wagstaffe but as usual we scored an own goal in a massive game.

Stuart Morgan, with a fantastic header from the edge of the penalty box; Deathy had no chance!RoyalBlue wrote:Was that queue for the 1971/72 Arsenal FA Cup game? If so, I was in there somewhere. 20 May 2011 18:34Yes I remember it well. I can't see us in the picture but my ex-wife (then my girlfriend) and I got to Norfolk Road in the early hours thinking we would be first in line only to find that there were around 20 people already there. Got two tickets in the stand and sat next to two Arsenal supporters who spent the entire game complaining about the state of the pitch and that it was worth a goal to us. Was gutted when Stuart Morgan scored the own goal. He was a great bloke & one of my favourits at the time.Mr Angry wrote:Stuart Morgan, with a fantastic header from the edge of the penalty box; Deathy had no chance!RoyalBlue wrote:Was that queue for the 1971/72 Arsenal FA Cup game? It was Barrow. Same trick, raised the crowd to 11,000.SHORT AND CURLY wrote:I think Hartlepool was the voucher game for Arsenal.
Might be mistaken.
I too was there somewhere as a spotty oik/yoof![]()
Gawd I feel old looking at those pics
I know what you mean. I suspect most people don't realise that they are colour photographs ..... that's how things looked then.SHORT AND CURLY wrote:I think Hartlepool was the voucher game for Arsenal.

22 May 2011 12:14Much better in 95. They sold tickets at the South Bank turnstiles with a different turnstile for each price category. We were at the front of the queue for the most expensive seats and spent so long negotiating our exact seat row and number that after we got our tickets the staff were told not to allow people to choose their seats!Barry the bird boggler wrote:Was it like that for the 1995 play off final, were the queues that long or was the club able to be more organised...?
