I reckon a guy sitting 2 seats away from me today was a Geordie. He showed no emotion for any of the goals and didn't sing any chants or say a word and sat while most were standing.

Signs over the entry gates says "HOME SUPPORTERS ONLY". Why are they allowing that rule to be broken?

Because it is impossible to police a member or ST ticket being sold on.

Because in the circumstances they adopt a more sensible approach and assess risk, and it would have probably caused much more inconvenience to everyone, and a greater risk to stewards and the surrounding spectators, to have forcibly removed them.

If every rule in life was strictly enforced then the world would be a much less pleasant place, and rules like this are in place in case they need to be enforced, not to be enforced just for the sake of it. I'm happy that stewards use common sense and steward according to the risk and the circumstances -there's not enough of that these days.

I reckon I've watched Reading playing away from the home stands about 20-30 times for a variety of reasons and have often taken friends who support the oppo into home games. No problem as long as everyone's grown up.

I think it's a bit inappropriate to openly celebrate but I still don't think that justifies anyone being attacked or thrown out. I'd probably draw the line at anyone openly goading the home fans though.

Was this in the South Stand? I was in R31 yesterday and noticed about a group of 6 georgies jump up and celebrate from within the 'home end side' of the south stand and the stewards also did nothing!

I think what he is trying to say is

" since there are, among the normal humans who inhabit the football stadia of Britain, a lot of neanderthals who are too tribal for their own good it is just not acceptable for this to happen. It is completely wrong to expect that football supporters can behave like decent humans and live in reasonable harmony. Yes, I know that other sports fans around the world can mix and live together during a game - but we are different."

The sad this is that football fans used to be able to mingle quite happily pre-70s and then it all went tits up. Although you knew that it would be unwise to go into the Shed,, Stretford End, Kop etc if you were not one of the gang the rest of the stadium was open to all, in general. And, except for a few instances, it was ok to go into the enemy end if you were sensible about your behaviour.

Having said that, I do recognise that we are where we are and that the stewards should help the offending away fan out and into the right part of the ground just to make sure that his/her presence doesn't become inflammatory.
