The temp one is usually pathetically small. How big was the shop you saw? I'd be very surprised if we were going to open a permanent shop, especially with the Oracle's rent. Would it really make enough money to warrant it?jonboy29red wrote:Walking in the oracle today noticed a new shop being opened by the club is this the Christmas one or permant?
Why assume it's going to be there? Normally the temp shop is in the Mall. To be fair, there's alot of empty shops in town. Perhaps fill in for La Tasca?especially with the Oracle's rent
Didn't they try it once, up on the corner behind the Barclays Bank on the Buttermarket near Ninos? Think the issue there was that it was too out of the way to pick up passing trade.Wizard wrote:Temporary til Christmas apparently. Don't know why they can't have a permanent shop in town.
Because the rent on a long-term deal costs more than the shop would bring in. Short-term lets are always cheaper as landlords want get some money in, and the bulk of the sales will be for Xmas only from it. The rest of the year, just about everyone who wants to buy Reading merchandise will be at the stadium or knows how to use t'interweb/mail order.Wizard wrote:Don't know why they can't have a permanent shop in town.
