Closure of Charity Parking in Imperial Way

Many supporters have parked at the former RHM building in Imperial Way over the last three years. This has raised approx £60,000 for charity. Thank you to everyone who has contributed.

The building is now being demolished and therefore the Sheffield United cup game was the last game when this parking facility could be made available.

Once the demolition is complete it is hoped that the charity parking scheme can be operated again.

If you know any supporters who regularly use this facility then please pass on this news so that they can make alternative arrangements for future games.

Got a bit of a shock when we turned up on Saturday, saw all the boards up and were handed the leaflet. Detest having to pay that much for parking anywhere (complete rip off) but the fact that at least 75% went to charity made it bearable.

The guys who manned this car park were always happy, pleasant and chatty, so thanks to them too.

Imagine this could mean parking gets more difficult for sell out games. Hopefully as IP says, they will be back when building(s) are demolished.

Does this mean Premier Foods have pulled out of the area?

Who owns the site?

What's planned for the site post demolition?

Thanks to the young lad and his uncle taking the cash. Always asked for a prediction from him and then avoided it cos he never got it right.

The only free parking I know of used to be down Acre Road, but they'll ticket anyone who parks there now.

Will not park in Whitley Wood or any of the other free areas. Seen too many cars keyed in Whitley and only last Weds 5 cars in a row broken into in Island Road including a mate who was visiting for the first time.

I still think it's a shame that the jobsworths at Prudential who own the land at Green Park refuse to allow parking in any of their car parks. Still, I suppose the years and years of property/cars being damaged by rampant RFC fans and opposite supporters has put them off.

Thats true, We have done this a few times now, its just if his cones are in the way blocking the road. Then have a choice between intechnology or DHL, although DHL a little more risky for the few evening games.

If thats a no go usually end up parking in Whitley Wood, touch wood not had any issues although after reading some posts here may avoid that from now on too!

Agreed. It's a shame they don't allow a local youth group(s) to run charity car parks on some of that land on match days. I don't like paying £7 to park, but knowing that most of that goes to charity makes it palatable.

As for parking without permission in some of the office car parks in Green Park or Imperial Way, no thanks. The inconvenience and £100+ to be released from a clamp means it's not a risk worth taking. Can pay for an awful lot of match day parking for that amount!

I don't think they even have any legal right to fine you. If you refuse to pay and don't give them your details I'm not sure they can do a solitary thing about it, only certain debt recovery agencies can get your details from teh DVLA through your licence plate and I'm not sure they'd pass them on to the companies who try and prevent parking on private property. I

may be wrong... I don't really care, I don't have a car.
