Early Bird Season Ticket Renewals 2013/14

It will be interesting to see if the Club consider doing this initiative this season, given the uncertainty over ownership that currently hangs over the club like a sulphur cloud from a dodgy 3rd World factory; personally I think they will (they will need early revenue) so the question will be, how will they pitch the pricing?

I cannot believe for a moment that they would contemplate raising the prices for next season, and so its a question of prices held, or prices reduced.

If prices are held, I can foresee an exodus of Season Ticket holders who won't see any justification in forking out a large sum of money for the sort of entertainment that has been dished out this season, so in order to maintain Season Ticket numbers (and revenue) the club will need to make a significant gesture. In my opinion, a 10% reduction would seem to be the minimum that should be considered....

We'll renew as long as they don't put the prices up. When you look around at other clubs, we get a fair deal here.

New ownership will lift the fans and renew optimism. I would expect similar season ticket figures next season.

I'd be amazed if they put the prices down by more than a couple of percent and I'd be surprised if it goes down at all.

I was only going for a one off season ticket this year, but I'm still seriously considering renewing. Even with the disappointing and disjointed performances I've still enjoyed going more regularly and frequently. And I seem to be able to afford it ok.

Almost certainly not renewing. With travel and food costs I'm paying nearly £40 a week as well as the season ticket price, and I feel this money could be used much better elsewhere.

The performances just aren't enough to keep me interested at the moment.

If I didn't have a season ticket convinced I'd never actually go anymore. Just wouldn't be arsed to buy tickets. Seriosuly considering it though, budgets keep getting tighter, luxuries go first.

If I don't renew then I have to sit here watching the crap the wife watches, with kids bickering around me, or be made to go with them for walks, or shopping... Football is my release. As long as they don't take the piss with pricing then I'll always renew.

I'll still put money on most fans getting swept away with the new owners and their big ideas and promises.. morale will be high leading into the summer, albeit on the back of a shite season.

Anyway, if you save on a season ticket to cut costs, your partner will only find a way to spend that money on another much needed pair of shoes, dress, handbag, expensive hair cut... Renew it and don't give up your well deserved man time. Oh oh oh!!

Football is a hard habit to break but I think I am on the way. Didn't get a s/t this year as I knew I was going to get a few invites into the company corporate. So far I have missed the televised home games and then for the first time for as long as I can remember (pre Madstad) I had a severe touch of the can't be arsed for the Forest game. Haven't enjoyed the last few games and not just the crap football, God knows I've seen enough of that over the years, but also the negative atmosphere that exists at the moment. Didn't regret not going one bit.
Unless there are big changes afoot cannot see me getting a s/t next year.

I'm in similar boat as you m8, although the habit has been with me fewer years. This is my first year without a ST since 2001 (I'd barely started 2ndary school at that time) - and I'd only missed back to back home games on one occasion, in 2008 which was out of my control and drove me up the wall.

Thought I'd miss it a hell of a lot more than I do, but life has gone on (shock horror) and I have zero interest in returning to home games anytime soon.

Schards renewed my ST but I wasn't bothered about going tbh - I think I've only been to about 3 games this season - not that long ago, we used to go to loads of away games as well, but I'm not spending good money to go and watch this drivel by a team of blokes who look like they couldn't care less and whose manager doesn't seem to know what he's doing with this shambLOLes of a squad.

As Ayjaydee said football is a hard habit to break as you get into the do or don't I dilemma of renewing your S/T for the next season from time to time.

Even though the football this season has been sh*t, thanks to Adkins, and not attending as many away games as I have in previous seasons I will stick with it as you never know next season (still got 22 game left this year) could be the year!!!

What killed the fun, enjoyment, excitement and anticipation for me, bizarrely was the end of the 2006/07 season. We had just had the most successful season in our history and came within a goal or two to actually qualify for Europe. Imagine that. Reading competing in Europe Anything else after that would not be any better. We all knew that we didn't have the resources to compete with the top 4 and the other very well established clubs in the PL. Therefore, we became a club where the only realistic ambition was to stay at the top table. I doubt if there will ever be a season to compare with 2006/07.

Players' attitudes changed thinking that they were big time stars and fans' expectations rose to unrealistic levels. Relegation, near misses and a play off final defeat were followed by a fluke of a second half of a season then followed by a season and a half of absolutely dire performances interspersed by the odd flash of brilliance. The only positive that I can put a finger on is that the attendances have held up really well in spite of all of the complaining and bickering on here.

Going to a football match to watch your favourite team should be fun. You catch up with mates you only see at games and catch up with all sorts of news.

My message to anyone contemplating whether or not to renew should ask themselves what their priorities are and just how important football at the Mad Stad is in their lives. I am in no place to castigate anyone who decides not to splash the cash. Do what you think is right and all will be good.

Absolutely this.
It was the aspiration to get there that kept me going.
After over 40 years watching us grubbing around in the nether reaches of English football, I saw the club climb all the way up to the top; and when they made it to the top of the hill, I realised the view was very over-rated.
Like most of us who were looking in from the outside, Sir John realised that what he called "the promised land" with the massive television money was little more than an illusion, as the virtually exponential rise in player wages consequential of elevation to that level actually wipes out most of the additional income.

The Premier League is a busted flush, whose sole legacy is making the big clubs even bigger, even richer, to the detriment of the rest of English football.
This engine room drives player wages ever upwards, forcing smaller clubs like ours to flirt with financial armageddon on the high altar of trying to remain competitive in order to gain and then sustain their place in that league.
Football is broken.
