Albion have moved the Millwall game forward to Tuesday 18th December...
Albion have brought forward their festive fixture against Millwall to Tuesday 18th December, due to a lack of public transport availability on Boxing Day and concerns over travel to and from the match for fans of both clubs.

More than 75% of fans coming to the Amex travel via train or bus, and the lack of public transport available on the 26th December, meant major concerns that 26,500 spectators could travel safely, to and from the stadium.

The club sought permission from the Football League, and chief executive Paul Barber commented, “Boxing Day is one of the key fixtures in the football calendar and ideally we wanted to stage the traditional festive fixture on the 26th.

“However, following discussions with the Football League and our safety advisory group – including the local police, fire and ambulance services – it was clear that for a stadium which relies so heavily on public transport it would have been impossible to be able to guarantee the safe and convenient movement of 26,000-plus spectators.

“On behalf of the club, I would like to thank the Football League and Millwall, both of whom have been extremely helpful in reaching this agreement and for the support of our safety advisory group.”

Barber also confirmed, Albion will be working with the Football League to attempt to ensure that future Boxing Day fixtures can be staged at the Amex.

I'm assuming that since 2012, they must have come up with alternative transport arrangements otherwise what has changed. If it was unsafe then, why is it any different now.

It's a bit confusing about the travel. Usually the ticket price includes local travel however as it's Boxing Day I wouldn't expect the trains to run. Then on the OS it says:

So I guess that just applies to Park and Ride buses and not the train.

Will be down there anyway at the in-laws. So the caste iron excuse to get me and the boy out of ear shot of the editorial board of the Daily Mail for most of the day and have a few pints of Harvey's Best an all is too good to miss. Might even watch the football too.

Without public transport it could all turn ugly - the park and ride is pants. Hope for an update from the O/S.

I'm driving down to Lewes and getting the train from there to Falmer. The train from Lewes to Falmer is free.I don't know if it helps you but there is 1 train an hour running from London Victoria to Brighton.Obviously you have to find a way of getting to Victoria though.
