02 Aug 2016 17:01I can dream! Getting into Paddington and then Reading and then the shuttle bus before even thinking of purchasing a match ticket is quite costly.tee peg wrote:McDermolenko wrote:Interested to know how much it's costing most on here per game (travel + ticket).

First class is expensive these days.

02 Aug 2016 17:24Not sure what car you drive but if you pay £57.60 per 130 miles you should probably look at changing it....marlowuk wrote:Well, I'm an OF (Old Fart) with a season ticket so games average out at £10 for me! Unfortunately I drive from Stevenage to the Foster Park & Ride. The journey is 64 miles x 2 = 128. At 45p per mile (usual rate for expenses taking everything into account for my car and my mileage per year) that is £57.60. The parking is free and so is the bus (I have a bus pass) but a drink and a burger come to £9.40 so a game costs me ...
£10 + £57.60 + £9.40 = £77
I've been scared to make that calculation before - and no wonder That's a chunk out of the pension!!!! Maybe I'd better start supporting Stevenage - and I could still see Jobi McAnuff and Rowan Liburd who now play for them!!

02 Aug 2016 18:23I drive 26 miles a day to and from work in a 1.6L automatic, it costs me £5 a day or less and that's non even motorway driving. 130 miles would work out at £25.LWJ wrote:Not sure what car you drive but if you pay £57.60 per 130 miles you should probably look at changing it....marlowuk wrote:Well, I'm an OF (Old Fart) with a season ticket so games average out at £10 for me! 02 Aug 2016 20:43Thanks for the advice, LW, but my car (10 year old convertible Megane) is nothing special. I used the 45p per mile because that is what is (I understand) generally used by businessmen claiming expenses and it is approximately what the AA estimate on their site. This rate doesn't just take into account petrol, of course, but also depreciation. tyre wear, a proportion of car tax and insurance costs, etc, etc. Taking petrol alone then £25 is about right FL!Forbury Lion wrote:I drive 26 miles a day to and from work in a 1.6L automatic, it costs me £5 a day or less and that's non even motorway driving. 130 miles would work out at £25.LWJ wrote:Not sure what car you drive but if you pay £57.60 per 130 miles you should probably look at changing it....marlowuk wrote:Well, I'm an OF (Old Fart) with a season ticket so games average out at £10 for me!
