Now the new TV deal has kicked in, the bottom club (Sunderland) pocket £93.471m which is more than Leicester got for winning the league the season before.

The Premier League also paid out nearly £220m to Aston Villa, Cardiff, Fulham, Newcastle, Norwich, QPR, Reading and Wigan in parachute payments.

Spurs finish 2nd, but City get more money in 3rd and Liverpool get more money in 4th. That's laughable.

Prize money for finishing 2nd should supersede any appearance money for those that finished higher in the league.
