Owners to subsidise tickets for FA Cup trip to Old Trafford

Ticket details and selling criteria for our Emirates FA Cup Third Round trip to Old Trafford next month have been announced and Reading Football Club have again chosen to substantially subsidise the cost of adult tickets for all Royals Season Ticket Holders, Half Season Ticket Holders and Members!

A pricing structure was set for the cup tie at Manchester United which was due to see adults pay between £37-£45 to watch our Emirates FA Cup clash at Old Trafford - a clash due to be broadcast live on BT Sport on Saturday 5th January, kick-off 12.30pm.

However, the club’s owners Mr and Ms Dai, want to take the opportunity to give a little back to our fans, taking the decision to subsidise the cost of tickets for the tie in a commitment that will mean no registered Royals fan will pay more than £30 for a ticket!

Two years ago, the club helped to make the trip to Manchester more affordable when we made the exact same trip to Old Trafford in January 2017.

And by once again subsidising these Emirates FA Cup tickets for our own supporters, we are not only recognising the amazing contribution away fans make at grounds throughout the UK every weekend, but also rewarding our fans for their valued loyal support and dedication to backing the boys on the road all season!

This will be the second time in three seasons that we have made the trip to the Theatre of Dreams in the FA Cup… and we go to the 12-time trophy winners in the hope of causing an upset against Jose Mourinho’s men!

The club have received an allocation of 3,534 tickets for this tie. Tickets will go on sale on Monday 17th December, initially solely to Season Ticket holders and Half Season Ticket holders, before opening up the allocation to Members and Non-Members according to the selling criteria below…

Tickets will go on sale to supporters on the following dates:

Wednesday 19th December Members with 1500+ points
Thursday 20th December Members with 1000+ points
Friday 21st December Members with 500+ points
Saturday 22nd December Members with 100+ points
A further selling announcement will be made by 5pm on Saturday 22nd December if we have any remaining tickets following this sales period.

Potential replay details
Should the Royals earn a draw against Jose Mourinho’s side next month, prices for a potential replay at Madejski Stadium have also been set.

And Reading Football Club have committed to offering Adult tickets from as little as £20 for any scheduled re-run of the Third Round encounter. Should a reply be required, Concessions tickets will be priced as low as £5 for those aged 17 & Under, £10 for 18-24s, and £13 for 65 and Over.

Hopefully this will help fans warm to our owners. Despite their long silences I have a feeling that they do care about the club and want it to be successful for the fans.

Boyd Butler rang BBCRB after one of the games a couple of weeks back and was stressing the need for the club to do things to engage with the fans and get them on side. Maybe now Nigel Howe is back in charge, that message has been taken on board.

Last time (2017), the original release said something like ‘full and final allocation’ of whatever it was. Nothing like that this time. Pretty sure it didn’t completely sell out last time.

It's difficult. Many people still see Manchester United as a big club so more fool them. I just wish as many from Club 1871 would travel up as there will be daytrippers. Like I say, it's difficult.
