I am unsure how I feel about this. There have been some great games where the lesser team has got through on away goals

Not really sure I follow how it gives them an advantage. The away goals originated when teams knew next to nothing about their overseas opponents, and would just turn up and be ultra cautious. This is massively out of date now, as even smaller clubs will have reasonable data and scouting in today's age.

I think it'll make games more exciting, as home teams can have a proper go. It may even help smaller clubs buoyed on by their home support as they look for an upset

Maybe I'll go back and have a look, but broadly speaking it feels like the smaller sides who might nick an away goal in a 3-1 defeat, for example, and then find a result at home.

Yes and no. 2 legged tie is 0-0 after both legs.

Home team score in 91st minute. Away team has 29mins to equalise and win on away goals.

Away team score on 91 mins. Home team have 29mins to find 2 goals as equalising sees them out.

One goal, very different situation based on who scored. Am glad they scrapped it.
