It's a start and a very brave step to take for a young lad at the start of his career but it appears that the support he's got from Blackpool and his team mates has been instrumental in him taking that step. That can only bode well for the future that attitudes within the game are slowly changing.

Its quite shocking that The Comic Strip addressed this issue with The Crying Game in 1992 and it's taken 30 years for the first current professional player to publicly come out in this country.

Yeah, that's fair enough. I guess what I mean is that I hope homophobia starts to carry the same stigma amongst fans as racism does. I still cringe when I think of the 'Chelsea rent-boys' chant emanating from the Reading fans at Fulham (my only away game normally, fwiw).
