Best near the ground is the Coachmakers on Thorpe Rd, leave the station to the right and a 100 yards up the hill. That’s the only real ale pub option near the ground. Kings Head on Hall Road would be a good option as well as you could park near it and walk down the hill path to the ground. Lot of people do that. If you’re here all day The Fat Cat on Nelson St would be the must. Pub if the year winner several times. The City Centre isn’t that great for pubs.

That’s right yes, sorry, memory slip, while since I’ve been in there. It’s a good option though as close to ground and on street parking. Lot of home fans use it before the game, usually very good selection of real ales.

If you do go to the Kings there also another very good option just round the corner from there on Queens Road called the Rose Inn and deli. Good ale, pizzas cooked on site etc. The cathedral is a detour from there though. If you wanted to do that you’d have to go Fat Cat then a straight walk through to the ground taking in the cathedral.
The cloisters are lit up this time of year, very atmospheric if you like that sort of thing.
Yet to find a pub in Britain with a better selection of drinks than the Fat Cat, which is why it wins pub of the year on a regular basis.
If you did do that walk through from the FC you’d walk down St Benedict’s St which has several good pub options. Ten Bells at start of road, The Plough further along is good, brews it’s own stuff, St Andrews Tavern bit further along is decent usually.

Thanks. Reading the Kings Arms website the food is pretty unique- you bring it from all the takeaways in the same street(or get it delivered) and they provide cutlery etc.
