So they get the whole south stand? Both sides then? And the upper west bit?

Yes, Upper West season ticket holders have to move. Do East Stand STH retain their seats for this game or is it a free for all on Thursday?!

I wonder if Brentford fans will get Royalty points for buying tickets in 1871?

So this is the first season you’ve been able to buy a season ticket in the south stand. All previous seasons it’s been unreserved seating. Apparently 800 season tickets were sold in the south over the summer - all of which now have to move. It’s really odd. I get that they want to sell more tickets and have given Brentford the full allocation of 4k. Who by the looks of things are going to sell out. But if you’re going to do that don’t then sell season tickets in the south stand. I think most people who buy a season ticket expect to be able to sit in their usual seat for cup games, no?

Yes! Utter madness but then how many of those ST holders are actually going to bother with this game?

And doesn’t that mean they get the safe standing section too (or has that still not been sorted yet?)

Well if you’re subscribed to one of the more premium ‘one royal’ packages you get this game for free. So there is a chance that a fair few would’ve been interested in going. And Yep they get the safe standing area   needless to say this has pissed a lot of people off!!

Not sure why the Club 1871 X account holder was having a meltdown. It was always known that in the event of a Cup match that they might have to relocate to a different part of the ground.

Cynical and contemptuous. The true price of having American owners. Moving home fans to accommodate Brentford fans demonstrates just how far we have really fallen.

FFS, it's BRENTFORD!

I've already had to give up my seat in the Upper West after 20 years to accommodate away fans. We were told it was necessary to help the club and preserve our sporting advantage.

Now they're moving even more of their own supporters to accommodate away fans. Clearly, the belief whether we can progress to the next round is already 100% decided, so let's make the money grab now.

Great message to the players, staff and fans.

Let's be absolutely clear about what this is: A money-making exercise at the expense of Reading supporters and any hope of an upset.

This isn't about sporting advantage. It isn't about the fans. It's about squeezing every last pound out of the occasion.

And it tells you everything you need to know about these owners and their priorities.

They aren't blue and white. They're green.$$$$$

Crass. Insulting. And frankly, a oxf*rd disgrace.

How many clubs with a proud, loyal fanbase would sit back and accept such a blatant oxf*rd you to their own supporters?

But after a decade of cr@p owners that have left the club knackered and on its arse in a cr@p division earning barely anything, what are they expected to do? Of course they’ll grab any money making opportunity they can and sadly there aren’t really enough home fans to kick up a stink about it. Personally I think the re-organising of the aways into the West was dopey in the first place as they’d likely always be given the whole of the South in “big games” for policing and safety etc.

What are the rules regarding away allocations in the cup? Do they have to move home fans in order to make room?

The rules for that aspect are presumably specific to each club to comply with whatever the local police and safety requirements are. Competition rules would likely simply state what the minimum allocation should be.

It's 10%:
EFL Cup Rules 2026/27 wrote:21.2 In all Competition Matches, the Visiting Club shall have the right to claim 10 per cent of all tickets reserved or otherwise sold in advance (any variation to that figure shall be subject to the consent of the Management Committee) and on the following conditions: [...]
That would equate to roughly 2,400 or half of the South Stand. We could've just given them our normal away allocation and been in excess of the minimum.

When did season tickets ever include cup games?

What's the link between this decision and having American owners?

They don't. But when tickets go on sale, you get first refusal for your own seat. Unless that seat, in this case, is not available...

As has been the case for many recent cup games in other stands. It only seems to be an issue when Club 1871 are affected

i get what you're saying, but there have never been season ticket holders in the South before. It's always been unreserved seating, so its never been an issue before. Look, I don't think its a massive drama, and i can see why the club has done it. But I can also see the point of view from a season ticket holder who is not able to book their own seat.

If you took out a higher tier of subscription you got some/all included.

That's true, but it doesn't say "your seat" for all home cup games in the blurb
