Five year season tickets to pay for stadium?

Quite a few clubs throughout Europe sold 'five year season tickets' to help fund things such as stadium expansion.

i wonder whether Reading will go for this?

Not saying everyone would buy one, but im sure, say 5,000 or so would

The maths is quite simple: 5000 five year tickets at £2,000 each gives 10million towards the development leaving loads for Steve Coppell to spend to take us/keep us going forward.

I'm not sure enough people will have enough confidence of 5 years in the Premiership to make it worthwhile.

True, but 2000 over 5 years works out 400 a year; im sure we will be in the Prem next season and hopefully longer, but if not, by 2011 £400 will be cheap even in the championship

But it also means a much lower revenue in years 2 to 4 as you've taken much of the gate money already and spent it.

I'd say it's a bad financial srategy - Leeds came unstcuk doing something similar, but admittedly a lot more extreme.

You say that but taking 5,000 away from a possible 38,000 for a few years surely wouldnt hurt that much.

just sounds like an idea with far too many flaws and draw backs to me.

It's not like Mad John won't stump the cash on this sort of investment should it be needed, and with our permiership status all sorts of commercial sponsors could be found. Pitch it the right way and you could probably get some sort of gov/lottery funding as well.

If we could find the cash without going to5 year season tickets for the mad stad in the first place we can do it for an extension.

There are probably quite a few fans (some on here) who could afford a 5 year season ticket. I wonder what other incentives, other than a discount, the club could offer?

Mr Mad will loan the club the money and write it off against other aspects thus not paying too much tax.

I'd happily pay for a 2 year ST but to be honest, it wouldn't work.. How would you think a family of 4 would cope???

This season alone their was uproar on ST prices!

Arsenal did a debenture scheme when they built their North Stand at Highbury. My mate paid for a five year debenture which meant he owned his seat, got a 'free' season ticket for the duration of the debenture and a discount on his season ticket for two seasons after the debenture finished. Obviously, as a team that has no problem staying in the Premiership and at a point when ST's were over subscribed, it was a viable proposition.

Towards the back will be a long way back. It's a good question how many would move as the back of the East Stand moves - time for a Vote?
