Two thoughts...

1. Why do the mobile beers sellers in the East stand only seem to appear right before KO and right at the end of half time?

2. Is it possible to employ more inept staff to serve beer behind the counter?

Hmmm, i have wondered this, and had just put it down to they must start from the north end of the East and work their way down.

2nd question is easier to answer, no.

Ceratinly is - but then the rates of pay would have to go down even lower.

Quality of staff is directly related to how much they are paid, and as Compass are only prepared to pay slave labour rates they only get the quality of staff they deserve.

It really is as simple at that - if they paid better rates they'd get better people, people they could train better, also.

However Compass must run the catering for a number of businesses in the area that do not open on a saturday. Could they not pull in staff from there for a few extra hours meaning this becomes additional hours for exisiting staff.

I don't buy anything under the concourse any longer. Such is the difficulty in finding a translator when you want a lager.
I once asked for a pint of piss water (Fosters) and got a Coke in return. This was then swapped for the correct choice of drink and they tried charging me for both.
Each time brings a different problem and I prefer to go without now.

I take your point, however I am extremely confident that if you paid for better staff at say, £3 a hour more, you would comfortably make this back in the increased beers sales you would make (especially bearing in mind our prices!!).

The current lot actually make it difficult to buy something you want.

I need some clarification before I can answer this one. Do you mean:

a: employing a greater number of staff who are inept?

b: employing staff who are even more inept than the existing incumbents.

Now I'm all for freedom of movement across borders etc but what has it come to when two people serving behind the counter (at the hotel this time) can't even communicate with each other let alone the customer?

Compass do school dinners.... Maybe they could have school cooks dishing out food and replace the stewards with dinner ladies?

they also run the canteen and coffee bars for the company I work for. our offices are closed on saturdays and sundays so some of them may be available most weekends

the staff are all polite, corteous, the coffee bar staff would be ideal for the mad stad service booths

The majority of the staff they have here have been here for at least 7 years and are competent at what they do

In fact, most (if not all) of their beers are less than £2.30 a pint, you get your beer in a glass and it doesn't take 10 minutes to get served (well, unless we're playinig Everton and they have 2 staff on behind the bar )
