THE ORACLE â€˜TEAMS UPâ€™ WITH â€˜THE ROYAL FAMILIESâ€™
FOR FUNDRAISING FASHION SHOW
The Oracle, the regionâ€™s leading shopping and leisure destination, has teamed up with â€˜The Royal Familiesâ€™, a group of wives and girlfriends of Reading FC players, to support a charitable fashion show at the Madejski Stadium on 4 April 2007.
Jenny Harney, one of the eventâ€™s organisers and Reading FCâ€™s Kevin Doyleâ€™s girlfriend, said: â€œWe have organised some fantastic events over the past few months, raising a phenomenal amount of money for our nominated charities. We are delighted that so many of the players, their wives and girlfriends, and even Steve Coppell our manager, have decided to get involved in the show. We have worked in partnership with The Oracleâ€™s team to put on a really great show to raise funds for some very worthy charities.â€

go onto our home website - click news then royal families scroll down and underneath the info for the fashion show is a link to a booking form - tickets are Â£30 pp

Much as this is for a good cause, I can't help but think that Â£30 is a bit steep - perhaps it's solely aimed at the prawn sandwich brigade...

Past Royals Families events suggest they know their audience.

The Ball / Race night were packed and tickets weren;t cheap. The car park party was priced more reasonably and had fewer attendees.

The events are raising money, not offering fans a cheap way to gawp at the players.

I'm assuming the quiz night is already sold out to those who are keen to support the initiative but can't afford the prices of other events ?

I understand your point and the concept of the whole Royal Families fundraising experience yet it slightly narks me that its always expensive to attend these events - an expense that I can't justify forking out for even though I'd like to go to some of them.

But the quiz and the car park party aren't expensive.

If they sold tickets at Â£5 they'd make 1/6th of the money which would defeat the purpose....

I'm sure that if someone had an idea for an event and could work out a way of making decent money whilst charging cheap prices the committee would listen to the idea. In fact isn't this what STAR have done with the quiz ?

How can you complain at Â£30 - it's all for charity and it's assured to be a top night. After all Getting to see Wally Downes and Ron Grant strutting their stuff on the cat walk.... AWESOME

Also you get to meet some of our best players etc... As far as i'm concerened Â£30 is reasonable for this event and it will be a super night had by all that attend
