Would not have thought scratch card sellers would be employed as such, they would just receive commissision.

I'd guess that lottery income - which is quite admin intensive and so will be expensive to run - has become much less significant when compared to the riches that come in from the Premier League and TV.

Every Reading fan owes a debt of gratitude to the lottery sellers past and present whose efforts kept money coming in during hard times and kept reminding people RFC still existed. If they hadn't gone door-knocking in Stavvy Rd and the like people in Korea, US etc might never have heard of us.

Don't know the figures but it appears that the club have short or selective memories..

At the time that the club nearly went to the wall "Maxwell" era and merger time.. The money collected from the scratchcards was used to help pay the players wage bill at that time.
So the collecters (not matchday) but the sellers who went out in all weathers to do a couple of rounds to help the club actually helped to keep it alive until "J M" could rescue the club.

In recognition of the work done i think we should all be rewarded, season ticket or something similar should do.

Why should they get something else on top of that just because they are no longer required? If they had done the work for nothing then I could see your point....

Yep - end of ...
As a local collector (or should I say former collector )- it is a shame when corporate economics are the main driver but that is the reality of a being a Premiership club I guess..

They may regret the decision on historical / individual grounds but think it is right for business reasons.

We all regretted leaving Elm Park for all sorts of reasons, but it was still the right thing to do.

That's a daft analogy. To use leaving Elm Park as the same sort of thing as stopping scratch cards would mean you'd have to have stopped the football after leaving Elm Park shirley?

RB was saying that RFC were being insincere in saying on the one hand they regret the decision, and on the other that it is made on sound business grounds. I have no idea why they have stopped the lottery so have no idea if it is a sound business decision but I thought the analogy was OK.
