I want to take my 3 yr old to Reading vs Watford

Does anyone know what the Club Policy is on taking your young kids along to a game ?

My son is 3 years old, I am planning to take him to watch the Watford home game, and sit him on my lap throughout. This will be his first live football game.

Presumably this is ok ? they don't charge for this ?

I take my 4 year old to reserves games and she spends much of the time trying to spot Kingsley rather than watch the game. Also, trying to carry an infant out of the stand for a slash can be a royal pain, and I've only experienced it at a reserves game.

You don't need a ticket for a child 5 or under, provided they sit on your lap.

As long as the little fella sits still you won't have any problems.

If he kicks the seat in front, wriggles about or starts crying then don't expect much thanks from those around you.

I doubt you had all seater stadiums when you were four

Option 1: Let her find her own way, asking people twice the size of her to stand up because she needs to make a wee wee from her foo foo

Option 2: Daddy carries thus preventing any accidents and the pleasure of a faint smell of wee in the car home (amplified when the car heater is on)

I have a season ticket for my (soon to be) 5 year old. I got fed up with trips to the toilet every 15 minutes but I have come up with a solution.

Take a fruit shoot bottle and once its finished use it as a piss bottle for him. I now do this and very rarely miss any of the game and I am sure the other people in the row are very grateful aswell!!

This obviously would not be such good advice for girls or number two's.

The only problem comes when during an exciting passage of play you get a "Dad, I need a poo!"

Following on from this thread about a month ago http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=59064 I took my 4 and a half yr old to his first game against Fulham, I got him his own ticket in the end as I didn't fancy having him sat on my lap for the whole game.

The whole experience wasn't a total disaster! Woodley bus was half an hour late and we nearly missed it, he spent the last 15 minutes constantly asking when the game was going to finish, got a little scared when Hunt scored the goal and everyone was cheering, only 4 toilet trips which wasn't too bad. He enjoyed taking his toy kingsley to wave at the real one and Seol is now his favourite player (was on the front of the programme!)

That pretty much mirrors my season with my little 'un.

Occasionally I get the " I want to go home now, has it finished" at half time but I am persevering.

I am not going to renew the season ticket but take him more sparingly next season. He seems more interested in being "one of the big boys" than the game itself and wants to eat exactly the same as whatever the kids in front are.

Why take your kid to the match if you think he's going to play up, and from people's experiences, they do?

I took one of my daughters with me to every game I went to last season and they got in free. They do have to sit on your lap though, and that can be a pain!

I get it, you want to make sure your three year old is put off for life and never gets into the awful addictive football habit! Why else would you take him along to see a game between Reading and Watford?!
