Spreading ashes at the Madhouse.

Someone close to me has passed on recently.He told me a few times that if anything happened he would like his ashes buried on or near the pitch of his beloved club.
I am hoping to honour this fans wishes but would be interested in knowing if anyone else has liaised with the club over such matters and who within the club would be best to liaise with.
Any advise or thoughts would be welcome. Thx.

Which would be more likely to be preferred though as a (dead and burnt!) fan:

being scattered under the turf?

or

being scattered on top of the turf and trampled into the ground over a season?

I suspect that ashes would be discreetly buried pitchside rather than actually scattered on the playing surface...

Dont know if the club do this these days, probably a health and safety issue !

I saw on some football programme some people scattering ashes at the Mad stad about a year ago. This would suggest it is allowed.

I think everton do it at their ground but I haven't seen anything about it in the programme or anything like that

My Dad died a couple of year's ago and we investigated scattering his ashes on his beloved Fratton Park. Pompey were very helpful with other ideas but it was a definate 'no' for the playing surface. I suggest it may be just the same at the Mad stad too.

If they don't allow it at the Mad Stad, how about at the training ground.

Time it right and you could spread the ashes into the structure for the stadium expansion.

Much better than being on the pitch which gets dug up every few years - this would be for good.

The club DO allow the scattering of ashes.

The guy that does the stadium tour tells you what is and is not allowed. I can't really remember all the details, I think the centre circle was a non started.

I did mention to him that the pitch would probably be dug up, but that didn't matter to him. It was just the fact that he was respecting his dad's wishes that was important.

Thanks everyone.Ive spoken to the club and made arrangements for after pitch has been finished(approx 6 weeks.)Absolutely fantastic assistance from the club so far.Steve Prince (club chaplain) more than happy to assist with those taking part in laying loved ones ashes within our sacred ground.
