Next season's crowds

Probably a Dodd, one the wrong forum, or both.

What's the feeling regarding the number of season ticket holders next season?
I only ask as i know of 4 different people that WON'T be renewing their tickets

Just makes me wonder whether we may not be a full as we'd think next season

For every 1 that leaves there are 5 more wanting one.

Don't think there will be much difference from last season.

Even if we are a few season tickets down games will still sell out, although I suspect we'll be at about the same number of STH.

Unless we do a Sunderland and are cast adrift at the bottom all seaosn long, I would imagine that every game will be a sell-out, among the home fans at least.

Losing Watford and Sheff U means we lose 2 of the teams unlikely to fill the away end. Of those coming up, I would imagine Derby might not sell their allocation. Wigan, Bolton and Blackburn tend not to sell all theirs, but of the rest, I'd say pretty much full houses.

Derby will depend on when we play them. If they're first up then it'll be a sell out. Though first season back for 5 years, I'd expect them to sell out most away games unless they get cut adrift.

Agreed. If we play them on a wet Tuesday in December, and they have 6 points from 17 games, they might not bring too many.

Wonder who the relegation fodder will be next year? (Apart from Reading of course

Not sure how I feel about readings support. All season everyone says having the most plastics in the country doesn't mean anything and we should all be thankful they are turning up and paying the money. Then those same fans were moaning when all the plastics left before the lap of honour leaving us with about 5,000 fans who probably were season ticket holders in division 2. The fans that really cared stayed. No doubt there will be sob stories about missing the bus and how bad the car park is, but that was piss poor.
That showed our support up for what it was, big numbers but crap fans who really have no idea how far we have come. They didn't support us when we were playing the likes of northampton, wycombe and blackpool every week so they will never understand how much it means now. I'll be ridicluled for this post because its me posting it, but I think deep down a lot are ashamed of the fanbase we have and its putting a lot of fans off who have supported us over the years from going. In response to that, people will then claim " they should ignore that if they are true fans" without really understand how cringeworthy it is walking around the ground seeing the fans we have these days and hearing the comments they make. I'll be renewing mine as ever for the record.

We won't have a problem selling out every week in the prem, im confident of that. Even if the guy who stood next to you for years in division two isn't there anymore.

i missed my bus for that lap of honor, had to get 1 bus, 1 train and a long walk to get home, but i wouldnt have missed that for the world, the players deserved better

i dont usually slate fans
but that was very very poor

I'll ridicule you because all the people I know that left early are exactly the people you think stayed behind, people who've supported the club for many years and served their time watching us play the likes of Northampton, Bury, Orient, Blackpool, Halifax, Aldershot, Port Vale etc etc.

As for the future of our crowds, well I'm a bit undecided. I think the novelty factor of the Premiership, coupled with the cost and future expansion will mean a decent number of STHs will not bother to renew. I've had a few doutbs myself but will renew when push comes to shove as it's a well formed habit now.

Will there be enough demand to fill the space left by those that leave? Yes I think there will be at the moment by I don't think it's the 5:1 ratio mentioned above.

I agree 100% with that, whenever I have attended the last home game of a season I have stayed behind, it is what fans do, even after relegation I stay behind, the players should get a send off, some may not be here the following season.

In the heat of the moment I almost considered leaving. I was gutted we'd performed that badly and blown europe, but I didn't though. I remembered years previously being stood in the same place clapping us off after our mid-table season in division two, and then clapping the stoke fans and player's who had just secured a play-off place, despite caskey's penalty winning it on the day.
If I had of left, id be ashamed of myself forever.
We've come so far and the fans who were with us all that way deserve so much better than being priced out by people who only want to see premiership football, the one's who won't be there if we ever fall from grace.

Not sure what sort of fans you think we have but they don;t look or sound any different from the ones I saw at Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool or Middleboro to be honest. No proper fan uses the term 'plastic' by the way...

Plastic was a term used by the watford fans on the last game. " plastic supporters" they sang in the tune of "shorey for england". Surely you heard this? Conveniently they sang it at the hordes of reading fans spilling out before the final whistle. You were probably one of them.
