Swapping the name on a Season ticket?

My younger has an under 21 ST, he doesn't want to renew because he'll be at University next year and it'll be hard to get back every other week. I have a friend who's over 21 and would like to take up the seat.

Is it possible to change the name on the ticket and pay the extra or will it have to go up for general sale?

I suspect i already know the answer.

No, they are not transferable.

At least not as long as demand outstrips supply. I heard that about 5,000 of Liverpool's STH's are believed to be dead.

As long as you rmate has some points then there will be a decent chance you'll be able to buy it on general sale - single seats will be the last to sell.

not if someone buys it as a st though, there must be lods of sad farts who have to go on their own.

The key to it is that the "new" person is able to buy it as a season ticket (i.e. if they have enough points themselves to allow them to do this - if there's a points requirement for new STs this year.).

Put in the application form stating that they want the specific seat, which will become available - and make sure that there's a covering attached letter from the old ST holder (signed) and saying that they're not renewing. Make the purchase dependant on getting the new seat, and talk to someone in the TO about it - don't just bung it in the pile.

Just renew and let the over 21 get in on the under 21 ST - simple, and it will save a few quid too

Do be careful though !

If the new user looks over 21 they are quite likely to be challenged at some time and if they can;t prove their age the ticket will get confiscated...

I have been told that OAPs can use an under 21 ticket as it is the same price band. That might give more options for using the ticket if you keep it.

I know someone with a similar situation - but in reverse. He wants to start taking his young dughter to games and get her a season ticket. Obviously, he wants a seat next to him. His brother, who has sat next to him in previous years is not going to renew. He spoke to the club about it and they were very accommodating, allowing his daughter to take over that seat - although any royalty points will not be transferred.

If they can do this for him, I don't see why they shouldn't do the same for you if you ask nicely.
