was in the Twickenham area recently and was impressed with the cost of parking, priced as to how many in the car, from memory 5 in a car was just £3, and 1 in a car was about £8, could and should this be tried at the Madstad to help ease congestion?

I am not sure if this was official car parks though.

It's a good idea, but the greedy car park owners would never have it, as most people travel to matches with at least 3 or so people in the car, so they would lose out overall. Profit before common sense at all times don't forget!

People driving along the A33 with only 1 or 2 people in the car would probably accost people walking to the stadium and offer them a lift!

sounds good to me get them to the ground faster more time to buy the tat on offer. Club still get same for parking, if not more.

How about doing it the other way - £5 if your car is full
£6 if 1 seat is empty, £7 if 2, £8 if you have 3 unused seats

Doubt the car park is much of a money spinner and the club have a big interest in ensuring traffic is reduced so would make sense.

Although it would make no difference to the number of cars using the site.

Why would this be to do with environmental friendliness ?
An MPV with 1 person is using up 3 times the road space of a 2 seater with 2 people in it.
And I very much doubt that a heavy 6 seater is twice as environmentally friendly as a small 2 seater....

An MPV certainly doesn't take 3 times the road space.

A Galaxy driven carefully can achieve up to 46 mpg between Tilehurst and the stadium. MAny 2 seaters struggle to get even half that....

Not fair on the exile members who every home game is like an away game. Us exile members pay far more in travel costs to watch games.

I don't see a scheduled stop at the mad stad on that list

The main aim would be to get the thousands of local people to use the public transport and allow the parking to be available to those that do not have match day travel available to get them to and from the stadium.

In all honesty RFC seem to be going about it the right way at the moment, extra bus routes are being laid on for the coming season, hopefully a better service from the Park and Ride, we could really do with a Park and Ride from south of the M4, trouble is the cost of using someones land to park on. An express service from Woodley would be good as well, perhaps Adwest might allow the use of their car park for such a purpose, though not likey.

The overall aim is for busses and Park & Rides from each direction, so that the number of cars coming into the stadium area is reduced as much as possible. So ideally there'd be the Shinfield P&R, one at Winnersh Triangle, one on the other side of Junction 11, and one J12/Calcot.

Easer said than done, though!

I can never understand why the Woodley buses go into town either, surely they should use a faster route and perhaps get a second run in?
