I'm sure, as we speak, the tens of thousands of fans that Woodcote Royal speaks of, who are desperate to see a game but don't have a member card, are descending on the Mad Stad to take up this offer. After all, it's not the holiday season any more.

Reducing the price of the tickets themselves might have more effect on sales. Trouble is they can't do that for fear of upsetting the season ticket holders that they have already bled a fortune from.

But this is a better alternative to doing a total general sale with no member card, removing the cost hurdle should be enough to encourage those undecided and it will give them a tie in for future games.

If ST holders start having to pay a premium (which it can be argued we do, as we pay a lump sum for the season) over a sliding scale of prices then ST sales will stop or certainly fall dramatically.

Yes an ST is guaranteed their seat but they are also saying I will be there week in week out regardless of whether we are 1st or 20th (or certainly will give you the money for it) - a walk up has the option to go, no we're crap this year, I can't be bothered.

If sales were still on Royalty points basis then there would still be a guaranteed seat for a STH so absolutley no incentive to pay more than for a match ticket....

If people are assuming it is sold out then Mr Hobson needs to look at what the club are missing out on, I for one would wonder why the ticket advert in The Chronicle was not on the pages about RFC this week, I hope that RFC do not pay to have it on the local footy section?????
