That was when there were draininage problems because of compacted roots or something like that - and I think a broken drain. The re-laid pitch shouldn't suffer from that sort of thing.

If that's what you interpret "the game will almost certainly be played" as, yes.

Or do you really want to be given a 100%, cast-iron, no questions asked guarantee that the match WILL go ahead, regardless of how much rain there is or some other event happening?

Actually that was before we had problems. It was quite a few seasons ago now. I remember I was sat right on the front row and was as wet as I've ever been. I might as well have jumped in a river fully clothed it was the same thing! And they played the first half through torrential rain, and the rain stopped just as they left the field for half time and the skies even cleared up and THEN they called it off. Tossers. Who was the idiot ref that night?

Every pitch, however good its drainage system, will have a saturation point.

The Madejski Stadium pitch is now very efficient and it is therefore extremely unlikely that the game will be called off.

Of course if there is an absolute torrential downpour before kick off for a long period then who knows....!

Normal Saturday departure time is 1345 (leaving 1 hour and 15 minutes)

Andy, we've had evening 8pm kick-offs before... I think most people can figure out how long it will take them to get to the ground.

Is this game a sell-out? Or even close to a sell-out?

You sure it's not a typo and it should have read 18:15? 19:15 seems to be cutting it rather fine...

Not a typo, the are scheduled to arrive 30 minutes before kick off mid week but an hour before kick off ona staurday

They generally do not allow for any extra traffic in the journey time

Same for the Basingstoke bus. Leaves at 1pm for 3pm kick-offs, but 6:30pm for 8pm kick-offs. I'm not sure what the logic is there, but the consequence is that it adds to traffic because we drive in rather than get the bus for evening matches. I know it's incredible that an hour and half isn't enough time to travel circa 15* miles, but unfortunately that is the case. Roll on Green Park station!

I found on the Bracknell bus last time round that by the time the bus got to J11 all the traffic had already parked up and we went stright through, with time for a beer.

When they relaid the pitch, they put a special plastic grass-type substance in with the seed for the regular grass, which helps with the drainage and helps prevent damage.

They had that before too. But the last time it was relaid it wasn't done properly and there was a problem which was why we had problems last season and why the completely re did the whole pitch and drainage and heating.
