How to increase bus use....

I'm keen to hear some ideas, so here's mine...

Use Oyster type ID readers on football buses. A bus season ticket can be purchased at the same time as your Footie season ticket. By purchasing in advance, a 20% discount is given to the fan.

Additionally(other than the elderly disabled and infirm) I would not allow anyone that lived within a 3 mile radius to purchase a car park season ticket

The Bracknell bus I used once would benefit from avoiding the rough areas, i.e. go straight from Sainsbury's to the Mad Stad.

I wrote to Reading buses suggesting a fast service from Newbury. They said they will consider it for the 2008/9 season if the demand is there.

On a general note,Buses should be given greater priority where possible.It would be good to have more bus lanes in Reading but thats not really anything to do with the club. Discounts for season ticket/match day tickets would be a bonus to.

Whereas doubling prices was designed to help them [especially scrapping the Megablock]. RFC do not care about the less well off sadly.

Adding some sort of discount for bus tickets would see more people use them tbh.

I agree they are way too expensive. If you want to get people out of their cars the buses have to be cheaper and more convenient.

No they have to be new, shiney cost a fortune to buy and run on biofuel, so we can be told how green they are. It is about time Horsemans started a few services.

Woodley services are fine, except the ones that go down through town, they should all go via Hartland Road IMHO, the people in the town can easily get regular buses or the station buses up to the ground.

Living in Wokingham means that we have the Stagecoach buses.

When two of us go in a car it costs the equivalent of £3.50 pp in the HP car park, plus we're in the comfort of our own car etc. £5 return on a cold, smelly bus and getting home over an hour later than when we drive just can't compete.

As I travel on me todd to games, the bus is great (I get the Farnborough bus). I do get home a bit later than when I used to drive but at least now I can have more than one beer when there.

The only thing I would say is that more information re the buses would be useful. There are loads of buses seemingly randomly lined up after the game, and nobody seems to know which bus goes from where, even the stewards.

Ye, I think the problem is price. 2 people getting the bus from Basingstoke costs a tenner, as much as it costs to park. OK, you save a bit on petrol, but you lose out on travel time. Plus, for some bizarre reason the buses leave 1/2 an hour later for weekday matches, meaning that you are almost guaranteed to miss the first few minutes. It's not a great incentive to use them, to be honest.

So, what I'd like to see is the Basingstoke bus leaving 2 hours before KO weekday evening matches just as they do for weekends, and the price halved for ST holders.

But then, as Peter Kay might say I'd also like to be able to moonwalk, but life's a shithouse.

I get the bracknell bus and it is quicker getting away from the stadium than it would be to get out of the car park

By using the bus and train I can get home before 18.00hrs - in Didcot!!!!!!

It used to take me the same amount of time by car to Fords Farm!!!!!

Just looked at the bus timetable and note the bus leaves the stadium at 1700.

If KO is at 1500 quite often the match is still playing at 1650. I am not sure I would get out of the ground [if I stayed to watch the game] in time for the bus....
Sort of explains all the folk leaving early.

Are you guaranteed a place on the return bus if you have a return ticket?
