Because of the arrangement between the PL and the FL, if a team is promoted back to the PL after only 1 year, their second year's parachute payment is split between the other teams in the championship - ie. they all get over half a million pounds each the following season. Blackpool - whose season is over- would know that if they were beaten by Watford then as a result they would get an extra half a million quid the following season. Just how hard would they try to win the match?
