its so that, if dropped, the bottle will collapse if someone steps on it. Otherwise it will roll and the person that treds on it will, in all probablity, fall over.

though they will sell you a cup of boiling hot coffee with a lid, that could be hurled towards a player!! And they will sell you a programme made of paper, that, if it pisses down with rain if you left it under your seat it could get wet and become a slipping hazard, all in all it is bollox, but thats the UK for you, if you dont like it oxf*rd off to Swindon.
