ITV and Liverpool

What is it with ITV and Liverpool, are they stuck up the Scousers arse or something - whenever there is a Liverpool champions league game on a Tuesday you can guarantee it'll be on ITV1 despite everyone knowing it'll be a dull game - take tonight for example, the Arsenal game would have been a much better game to have shown, Steve McClaren on his return to management, Arsenal's flowing passing and GOALS!

Whats the bet that, providing Liverpool get through, they will be the main ITV1 game every time they are on a Tuesday with Arsenal/Chelsea having to settle for ITV4 as Man Utd take the ITV1 spot on a Tuesday when Liverpool are on a Wednesday.

IF they were the only English team playing then i would agree but how many times last season did you see Arsenal on ITV1 (apart from when they were playing Liverpool)?

As I said, it shouldn't be a surprise that Liverpool are on a lot, as they have progressed further overall in the CL over the last 4 seasons than the other English clubs. I dare say Arsenal were on a few times in 2006/07.

If you guys want an anti-Liverpool w*nk-fest at least do it over something worthy (like Liverpool being total shite in Liege).

As you know i have a soft spot for Arsenal and like to watch them play when on TV and everytime they are on a Tuesday night, they have been put on ITV4 with either Liverpool or Man Utd on ITV1

As far as I know, the game days are organised by FIFA but so that, for example, if there are four English clubs, it gets split 2 in one day and 2 the other. These alternate so there are 3 Tuesday and 3 Wednesday games for each team in the group stages. Sky get the Wednesday games but can show all 8 (?) fixtures. Terrestrial channels around Europe get the Tuesday, but are limited by the number of games they can show. ITV, for some reason, choose to show the English teams but there's nothing stopping them showing Scottish, Welsh or Belorussian teams, if they wanted to.

I would imagine ITV show Liverpool games ahead of Chelsea or Arsenal on ITV1 because they get bigger viewing figures. Just a simple, business transaction.
