Alcohol Ban

Unless I've been in a coma since the start of the season, as far as I'm aware, the ban on bringing alcohol into the seated area of the MadStad remains.

A little surprised, therefore, that shortly before KO last night, 4 QPR fans came and sat in front of us in the Upper West, one with a pint of lager in hand. Not only did the steward not stop him, he actually engaged him in conversation and shook hands with the bloke with the lager.

Not a big deal in the wider scheme of things, but what's the point in having rules if noone enforces them?

Roundly enforced in the North yesterday when some barely (if at all) old enough people brought beers in. The steward quickly removed them.

i've seen a few people get away with doing this and right under stewards noses. i never seen people trying it/getting away with it until this season...

I did make a note of his number. Its bad enough as it is paying for a ST and having to put up with away fans in our end taking the piss but being blatantly allowed to bring beer in is a step too far! Whatever next?

And a ban on standing, swearing etc.
Yet folk seem to see their way to breaking these.

If this was such a big deal (and I'd agree it shouldn't happen) why wait until after the game and post about it on here rather than do something at the time (a quiet word with the steward or a request to speak to the stand supervisor perhaps).

Amazing how often people are happy to moan on here when the situation is over rather than do the simplest thing to help sort it.

The steward may have been new and simply made a mistake but they won't now be put right and it might happen again, or perhaps it was in fact a pint of Mike Ashley style alcohol free lager which had been arranged before hand hence the handshake and friendly conversation.

OK. Here's the scenario. Four away fans, big lads, probably in their 30s/40s, swearing, taking the piss, playing I'm well hard in a family area, chatting and shaking hands with a steward, come and sit in front of you. Would you confront the steward or make a note of his number and report it later? As for alcohol free lager, I think not! Made a mistake, I think not. Unless he can't read or didn't attend a new steward briefing.

Why confront anyone ?

If there was a situation that really upset you would you :
a) spend 90 minutes fuming in silence but then send off a 'stiff' email afterwards when nothing can be done
b) discretely have a word with the stewards and point out the issue so it could be dealt with.

Having decided it wasn't such a big deal that it actually needed sorting it seems a bit much to make a fuss now.

Love the reverse psychology involved here!. Letting the steward know they have beer and waiting for something to be done about it.

i think the person starting the thread was just pointing out that it's got a bit lax. and as a few other people including me have noticed it going on, clearly the rules are not be strictly enforced.

i thought it was a one off and didn't wanna be a kill joy by pointing it out to the steward. however, rules are rules and should apply to all or none. if i see it again i will be pointing it out to the stewards...
