Maybe - I suppose it was still deliberate handball. he certainly does have to be punished somehow, and you certainly can't disallow the goal.eddiegrundy wrote:Hang on though,if he had punched the ball clear you would have had to send him off and award a penalty kick. The fact that he was unseccessful in punching the ball clear is surely irrelevant as his intention was clear. In this instance I think you would award the goal, as you were allowing "advantage" and send him off for deliberate handball, intending to deny a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Indirect free kick and bookings all round.Dirk Gently wrote:Send him off for deliberate handball - surely they need to notify the ref of the change.
That's what I'd do.eddiegrundy wrote:Hang on though,if he had punched the ball clear you would have had to send him off and award a penalty kick. Pretty sure thats spot on, the ref needs to be notified just like when a sub takes place. Otherwise you would have defenders hand balling in the box all the time claiming that they decided they were the keeper now!Dirk Gently wrote:Send him off for deliberate handball - surely they need to notify the ref of the change.
For my college team, the other striker was also a very, very good keeper. Whenever we conceded a penalty, he'd ask the ref if he could swap in, so he'd swap shirts with the keeper for the penalty and then we'd ask to swap back next time the ball went out of play.bobbybottler wrote:The laws (it's law 3) state that

• the referee cautions the players concerned when the ball is next out of play"
